Why do I like this show?

it's so impossibly stupid, but so cute and likeable
anyone else but me think the show was some stupid attempt at being anime... only stupider... then watched a few episodes and started to enjoy it?

I never really saw it as anime (and hope that was never the intent). I loved the oriental influence and nature of the show. Jack, for me, was a huge reason for liking the show. It seemed a very good mix. It wasn't simply good vs evil. Jack was never evil (if you remove the season finale) but someone who wanted to be evil and just could never pull it off. I liked how they started introducing true evil characters as the whole them vs Jack would have gotten old. Jack was always that annoyance the monks had to contend with but they knew he wasn't much of a threat. I wished they'd given each monk equal time for development (I know there were episodes for each monk), but it seems Rai's character development skyrocketed when he went to the Heylin side. The need to restore trust with his friends (and allowing them to advance while he remained behind) was something I'm glad they took their time to develop. The episode when they lost Omi to the Heylin side was one of my favorite. We see 2 scenes where Rai actually cries over the loss of Omi. I am glad they interjected such storylines in the show as hunting for Shen Gong Wu every episode would have gotten stale pretty quickly. I always missed Katnappe (always loved that name). The animation was decent for me, again, I wasn't expecting anime level. I enjoyed how they let Rai cut loose a bit in part 2 of the season finale when the 4 were ganging up on Kimiko. He never had a chance, but got a couple sweet moves in. I wished their powers had developed differently as the whole 'armour' thing just didn't really work for me.

As long as Jack was in the episode, I knew I was bound to get a laugh, like with King Julian on Penguins of Madagascar. How can someone love their 'booty' that much?
