DUMB!!!!

Come on.. live action Sailor Moon?!? This show is so bad, it's funny!

Obviously you've never seen it...so I suggest you watch a few episodes.

It's really addicting after watching the first 3 episodes, you really do want to know what happens next (even if you already do know). But the live action series is very different especially to those who know only the anime version. It also is often different from the manga from which this series is based on, so it gives the audience something fresh to watch.

However, there are still some things that need polishing, one of which is definitely the action scenes. Though the fighting is getting a lot more realistic and better as the series progress, the editing still needs improvement.

The five actors who play the senshi are of course especially memorable in their performances, and each one puts a great deal of effort in making her character similar to the manga as well as unique to the audiences.

I am eager to watch more of it.

...Which might explain why you can't type properly. *coughs* If your sister watches it, then just go out of the room! It can't be that hard, unless you're chained to the wall. And why do people randomly come into different threads to just randomly diss a series for no reason? Honestly, give some valid points, and we're open to discussion.
I think the series rocks. Obviously you don't. It's all in good fun, and yes, the show is funny, but not because it sucks. That's my opinion for the night...

*nods* Very nice reply, DerangedAssassin. Most people just totally miss the point on this show... it's sad that people are like this, because despite its flaws, it's such an awesome and entertaining show.

People tend to miss the point of the show because their brains cannot comprehend the fact that this is DIFFERENT than the anime and manga. Granted it has traits of both, the series is its own story within itself.
I find that Sawai Miyuu has captured the role of Usagi much better than I had thought she would. Sometimes, I think she does a better job that Mitsuishi Kotono or even Anza Oyama. I love Shibue Jyoji as Chiba Mamoru, hes really gotten the flair down for the character, and has made him more into his own Mamoru rather than the uptight one from the anime, or the distant one in the manga.
The shitenn'ou are wonderful as well. We couldnt have gotten a better group. Akira Kubodera is outstanding as Kunzite (he damn well should be, hes a great on stage actor in theater) while they have replaced a whiny, bitchy Zoisite with Endou Yoshito (YES, thats his name, not that crap on the front page with the cast) who is elegant and determined. I had really hoped that Aya Sugimoto would fair better as Queen Beryl, but shes doing an ok job. Im sure shes not sitting because her dress is so tight, it may tear. ^__^
Alisa is awesome as Kuroki Mio. Ultimatly, I hope she turns good. She has a pretty voice, and if she let her hair grow out, shed look much prettier. Her haircut is very unflattering.
I know people hate Sailor Luna, but shes better than the alternative that will most likely appear soon...ChibiUsa. *gag*

Open your minds to new experiences...you may enjoy them.

I was a bit skeptical toward the series...at first. I watched the anime as a kid (still do) and loved it, but wasn't sure that a live action version could actually be serious enough to pull it off.
I thought, 'a LIVE ACTION Sailor Moon?! That's hilarious.' But then I got curious about it, and watched it.
I'm currently on episode 9. ^_^

I respect your opinion, but i'll have to disagree with that.

As someone who has been a fan since 1995 (when the dub came to the states), read the original manga, seen all of the original series and movies (plus the omake with the seiyuu), AND seen all of the normal live action episodes, .. and who's favorite character, is without a doubt, usagi ..

I'll have to say that I wasn't really super-impressed with the live action. I was even quite skeptical at first, but I watched it through just because I was curious. I particularly felt the ending wasn't that great (I have yet to see all the special acts, etc yet), and the anime I felt, was alot more engaging. This is NOT to say the live-action series wasn't good, I just felt it could be alot better.

I am also well aware that this is a totally different story, but it IS also called sailormoon, so comparisions are to be expected.

I may be the only one that feels, since usagi is my favorite character, that there was something missing to sawai miyuu version of usagi, at least personality-wise. She has everything else down - the hair, the smile, the overall look, the outfits, etc, she's really pretty, cute and cheerful .. but for some reason, I don't feel like it's 100% usagi.

for one thing - usagi is more then just a clumsy, food loving girl. I mean, she's incredibly compassionate, self-sacrificing, gentle, kind, cute, funny, generous, usually cheerful, and happy .. but i'm just gonna say it .. you didn't see quite as much of that in the live action. Not to say that she wasn't kind or cheerful, but I find it odd that even after finding out she's the long lost princess of the moon kingdom, that she wasn't reluctant, or in a state of shock .. it was like she was actually HAPPY and carefree about it.

that really annoyed me.

among other things, and these are just nitpicks .. she said her speech a little too fast, with a smile, and without the conviction that mitsushi kotono gave the animated usagi. I mean - she says "tsuki ni kawatte .. oshiyokiyo!" in the anime, and she's basically telling the enemy that she's there to kick their ass, but I didn't get a sense of that from sawai miyuu. She said it too fast, and you aren't supposed to smile when you say it ..

it was like:

"Aitoseigino, sera fuku no bishoujosenshi SERAMUUN." *pose and smile*

when kotono says it with actual meaning and conviction:

"AI to seigi no, sera fuku no bishoujo senshi .. SERRA MUUN!!!" *pose, usually she says here, tsuki ni kawatte .. oshiyokiyo!!"

or maybe that's just me, but I didn't feel like she said it as if she actually meant it.

so I can't really say that miyuu was better then kotono. In many ways, I don't feel pretty guardian lives up the sailormoon name, for many reasons other then the ones expressed here. To me, at the end, it felt partly rushed and uncomplete.

I mean the actors aren't really bad actors .. they are cute, pretty, and capable, but .. can't say they are more talented then the original seiyuu.

I'm another sceptic who was converted. :) I was at first horrified at the changes they made to my beloved kings, but... now I think I like them better.

Jesus has it been 12 years already? I feel old >.> I remember watching the show when it first came out also and kept up with it also as it came out. I own all the episodes in Japanese and english subs and also all the english dub episodes. (i have the complete sets for the VHS, I also have the complete set on VCD, and also a complete set on bootleg DVDs and also the complete sets that are on official dvds that came to the USA. lol a little confusing sorry) But i also own the movies, specials, musicals, and live action (including specials on DVD)I also own some video games and the playstation game too and alot of the Japanese toys like the brooches and wands, and transformation wands) GAH I am just running on. But anyways I personally loved the Live action series at the beginning of the series it was a bit iffy and a little bad but with each episode the show got better, towards the end the characters were very believable. And also for the first time I actually started to love Sailor Jupiter i mean in the anime and manga i really liked her but she was never my favorite, but in the live action version i fell in love with the character. They got into good depth with her. And plus she was kick ass. Anyways sorry for thee long run on sentences but I am to tired and not in the mood to write properly.

Oh i also forgot to add i also own all the mangas including the Code Name Sailor V managas

This show isn't really for the casual (Western) TV viewer. The only people would "get" it would be people who liked the anime or manga. And because this show is from Japan it is a bit different to what people might expect.

Most (if not all) SM fans who have watched PGSM have loved it- and they are the ones who's opinion really matters: not some guy who doesn't even like SM.

The show takes a bit to get used to, but after the first few episodes I was hooked! It gets better as the episodes move along.

I've got to agree with you partly, especially in the first few episodes. Let's everyone take off those rose coloured glasses. The actors were all method acting pieces of cardboard (not surprising, as they were hired because of their looks) and the fighting and youma were just cringe worthy.

The series came into it's own around episode 10 or so, when everything seemed to flow better. It became more of a dorama than a fighting show (Like Power Rangers) and, whereas it may have only appealed to the 3- 10 year old audience it was aimed at at the beginning, by the end of the series there were more mature story lines for the older fans to enjoy.
