My theory on the plot holes

I've been reading some of the comments here and it seems some people are confused by the plot. I admit there's too much left in the open, but here's my theory that seems to fit the "holes" in the plot.

Originally, I believe that JT was killed by Bremmer due to the fact that it was a professional "hit" (one shot to the head, leave a bullet as a sign, etc). It makes sense because Bremmer was on Claudia tail and was just a matter of time until he learned of her whereabouts. Notice that she only took precautions to leave JT after she heard about the contents of the case, so it's reasonable to assume that originally Bremmer would have found out about her relationship with JT and decided to kidnap her in exchange for the documents. JT would still get his blue jacket and green vehicle and would definitely go after her girlfriend to wherever Bremmer instructed. That means he would eventually go to the Buck Naked because Bremmer seems like he was already a regular at the place.

The other "hole" people seem to have a hard time with is how come the case contents changed in the end, but not when the woman and her dog were saved. It's not clear, but it is hinted that Jesse sent a second case after she realized that Carl would kill her father (she was present when Carl got out of the car). The hint for this is when Carl, at the end, says "this is yours" and Jesse offers to pick it up, followed by JT comment that the case was hers all along.

All in all, I enjoyed watching it. It could've been a little more "obvious" at points, instead of leaving the viewer to fill in the gaps, but I think it's still possible to make sense of it. If someone still finds some inconsistency in this, please share.

well, the contetnt seems to be changing all the time the history is remaking. and it's logical. but then there is a question, how come the ammo bullet got in to the evidance )

PS: all in all very nice mini-series, good soundtrack, good cast.

I have a post/theory in another thread that may explain that.

Vip_box, the ammo bullet got into the evidence because it was evidence left behind by the shooter. Bremmer was not only Claudia's husband, but he was the leader of a gang of professional hit men, and his "calling card" was to leave an unspent bullet behind for the police to find.

It is strongly hinted that Bremmer was the killer in the original timeline because of all the reasons that you have listed.

I don't see the other "holes" that you are referring to. The contents of the briefcase did change every time something was changed, not just in the end. This is even true about the woman and her dog. You may remember that in one of the episodes (the fourth?), Jesse skips school to run to the funeral of the woman who died. That is because she noticed that the article had changed from both her and the dog being killed by the tree, to just her being killed in a car crash, and she wondered, "What about the dog?" She, therefore, was at the funeral not to witness the funeral, but to see if the dog was still alive. He was. Then she went back home and explained it all to her daddy.

I don't believe there was any second briefcase, because while Jesse was there to see Carl get out of the car and attempt to kill her father, it was in the altered timeline. Carl originally had no motive to kill the Professor, her daddy. He was only there in this timeline because he had seen the contents of the briefcase and because he was such a fanatic about this time thing, that he believed that something horrible would happen if the Professor had not died as he was supposed to die, right down to all the details, the car, the jacket, the time, and the place.
