Reminded me of Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

This auspicious student thesis film by Maren Ade (who directed the masterpiece "Toni Erdmann," best film of 2016) reminded me of the poignancy of Fassbinder's work, in particular "I Only Want You To Love Me" (1976) and "Fox and His Friends" (1975). It also reminded me of Todd Solondz's "Welcome to the Dollhouse" (1995). Ade already showed signs of the great filmmaker she was to become. Eva Lobau's performance is terrific.
