You can't get rid of them as far as i know.

If you don't take the doll from Walter, you won't have to worry about it. Apparently, this triggers the haunting. Although, i don't remember if you still get the haunting if you keep the doll in your possession. I know for sure that if you put it in the box, you'll definitely get the haunting.
