The creepy guy with longish hair *spoilers*

sorry I forgot his name. i am far through this game but am fed up as i have been through all the levels and have to keep going back to them to progress. currently i ams tuck with eileen in the world where the childrens home used to be? where it burned down, sort of the crossroads section. i have no idea where to go and keep getting chased by the mysterious guy who i think is the overall killer (i've seen him peep through the hole in the front door) without explanation he chases me and eileen with a gun so i either have to run except eileen is slow or go at him with my axe, now every section i go back to he reappears and no matter how many time we beat the crap out of him (with axe and Eileen's chain) till he is on the floor he won't die. can someone point me in the right direction?

reply

His name is Walter, and you are right, he's your major enemy. This is why you won't be able to kill him until the finale. Don't waste time or ammo on him, just run and cover Eileen as well as you can.

reply

ok its so creepy when he just appears from nowhere, now i just have to figure out where to go

reply

You have to collect the limbs and the head for the doll in the wheelchair at Wish House. There's a doll part in each of the 5 wells spread out in the level.

reply

oh right i got a new cutscene with a child and recently found a pick axe as a new weapon, i think i have 1 arm so i presume i need a lit torch to find the limbs as i've looked in well before and it says something like too dark.

reply

Also, I'd advise that you use the oil in the laundry room on the torch so the flame will last longer. :D

reply

Thanks I will when i get roung to it, the game doesn't really attract me much anymore though.

I quit playing the game when I got to the building revisited part. Eileen is too slow and I kept getting beat to death because I had to wait for her. Shame really, but maybe I'll pick it up again at some point.

reply

Yea it is annoying. The game is too long and well monotonous. I might get back to it but not anytime soon.

reply

Don't worry too much about Eileen, just keep two candles in reserve for the end of the game. Now matter how beat up she gets, she won't die, and two candles will heal her completely before the final act.

reply

ok I dind't know she couldn't die.

C'mon Jelena!US Open 07 GO JJ!

reply

She can't die until the end. But if she gets too damaged, she'll start to get possessed, and then she'll start doing damage to you. That's another good time to light a candle and keep her close by it until it's out.

reply

The thing for me is when you are in the building revisited part, she is too slow, you cant continue without her. When Im waiting for her to follow, I always get killed. Thats just too annoying for me. Ive played RE4 where you also had to lead a character through parts of the game, and she stayed right behind you, no straying. That made it alot easier.

reply

RE is deifnetly alot easier.

reply

As frustrating as Eileen tagging along can be, (I always wished you could tell her to wait, as in RE4) if you manage to find a decent weapon for her, she can help you immensly. I've got her equipped with the chain right now, and it's a very deadly weapon. Also, when she runs, the chain rattles, so you can kind of gauge her distance from you.

"Zombies, man.....they creep me out."

reply

I too have her equipped with the useful chain. I enjoy it when the beats into the Creepy Man with Longish Hair even when he is aiming a gun and wielding some kind of chainsaw. We take him down each time.

She can indeed be useful. Especially when you get to the room in the watertower where you are warmly welcomed by an army (ok maybe not an army, but there sure were quite a few of them) of twin-heads. First time I died, second time I let Eileen beat the crap out of most of them lol. So I guess that makes up for something. Still have to finish the game though...Maybe someday.

reply

i know its just so hard to keep interested in it.

reply

Lol, yeah it is. But I hope I do finish the game someday, because I wanna know the whole story the game has to tell. Too bad the levels make you loose the will to go on.

I take it you have the same problem?

reply

Exactly, I got a walkthrough and thought I was near the end, then realised I had to go back to each main stage a number of times all over again. After a few months drought I made some progress but haven't been drawn back to it in a while lol.

Lol, when I found out I had to replay every stage I was very dissappointed. All the running back and forth gets a little old, especially when the stages themselves arent all that big. At which part did you stop playing?

reply

I won't ruin anything major regarding the ending, but how well you protect Eileen and how much damage she takes will influence what type of ending you get. Needless, to say, I was very disappointed at the finale that I got. Definitely the most challenging Silent Hill game of the 4, in my opinion.

reply

well i'm past the part where u get the girl from the hospital, im now back on the level where the nursery thing is where that guy got set on fire, and with eileen we keep getting followed by the Creepy Guy with his gun and i just got a pick axe.

You mean the Wish house? or somewhere else lol

reply

yes the wish house, see how i forget about the game, yes its there and i just found the little boy again at some kind of shrine before Toluca Lake.

reply

ah yeah, I know where you mean. Im further into the game, nothing much interesting has happened after that. It gets more annoying after that even.

reply

You're actually fairly close to the end. After Forest world, you just have to go back to the Water Prison, Building and Apartment worlds once again. They do go faster the second time through, though. (at least, I thought so). I recommend running or bypassing enemies as best you can. Conserve ammo and pick up those Swords of Obedience! When you use them on a major ghost (the main victims) you don't have to worry about them following you around anymore.

reply

The game does actually get better near the end. I was about ready to give up when I got to Subway revisited. I hated having to go all the way back to places i'd already been to, but after a while it got much better and the ending is especially worth playing. Even tho i got the worst ending..

reply

I might go back to it, but I just keep getting lost, I don't know where to go and I'm sick of trailing back and forth especially through that subway where Walter keeps gangin up on you.

reply

Lol! I still havent finished it yet either. I pulled the swords out of all the main ghosts so they are all ganging up on me in the building revisited part. I do recommend to take any weapon away from Eileen, she will follow a lot better. Anyway... Its still standing in my closet next to the other Silent Hills that I did finish

reply

I too get ambushed by all the ghosts, the one's on fire are so annoying. I just wish it was easier I mean I keep getting lost and you rarely know where to go next, I might try again later

reply

Well I wont be trying again anytime soon as I just picked up Silent Hill Origins for the ps2 the other day. Gotta say I love it so far

reply

I didn't like it, the graphics, the character, the plot or the controls Travis has to be the worst character ever. The only thing I liked was the music.

I own the Jelena Jankovic board

reply

Lol, I do have to agree the graphics arent great but it is a psp port after all. Controls seem pretty much the same to me except you cant shine the flashlight in different directions .

reply

The most annoying thing is still...Travis

I own the Jelena Jankovic board

reply

Awww, poor Travis... He cant help it

reply

He shouldn't have bothered going after the kid in the first place, there was no need for him to even be in Silent Hill. Hopefully the new game will improve where the other games failed eg. longetivity *cough* The Room

reply

Oh come on, The Room is a masterpiece. Anyho, Ive seen some shots and vids of the new Silent Hill, graphics look nice but I dont know if it'll be like the old Silent Hills (1,2,3)

reply

[deleted]

if you liked Silent Hill 4 and Origins, I suggest you play 1,2,3 if you can find them. I guarentee you'll love them! Silent Hill 4 is the worst for me so far.

reply

Me too!

Did anyone ever finish this game? :(

So Angelic, a long time after my OP, did you ever complete it? I certainly didn't

reply

I've pulled all the obedience swords out of the victims (stupid me) which makes them all come back at once in later levels!
I gave it one more shot and got frustrated again, so I decided to watch the rest on youtube so I atleast know what came after.

Have you played Homecoming yet? I've started playing Homecoming but it just doesnt really do it for me, so I've put playing that one on a pause too lol

reply

Good idea, I might Youtube it too, no I haven't played on any SH for ages

So tempted to try this game again ;)

Lol, I haven't picked this game up in ages! Though now that you mention it I'm tempted to do the same since it did have good parts in it, and I haven't played a good horror/scary game in a while.

Have you played Silent Hill: Shattered Memories yet? I've played the beginning of it and don't really like those chasing and running parts, I always get confused on where to go, so I tend to just give up again after some mindless running! Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Lol

I've really not played on a SH since The Room. Lost contact with the next-gen games. Funnily enough tomorrow my flatmate and a few others are organising a day of old school gaming ;) so I'm taking things like Tomb Raider, Silent Hill 2, The Room and others. Show them what I used to be obsessed with, although it will be starting 4 from the beginning. Ah I feel so old having started this thread when I was quite young.

I loved Tomb Raider, too. Still do btw.
I thought you might have played Shattered Memories because it's on the ps2 as well. (had to get used to the graphics after having played the ps3, haha). Anyway, I hope you'll do better on The Room this time around, have fun!
