in Nova Scotia?

hey I just checked out this movie today. Overall I thought it was good for a Canadian film. Am I right in saying that? Was it shot in Nova Scotia? I seen a license plate on one of the vehicles in the film.. soooo thanks :)

"Overall I thought it was good for a Canadian film."

What is that supposed to mean? You think that because it's Canada that we can't make great films?

Namaste, and good luck.

Canadian movies usually are full of swearing and sex, this movie was actually decent. BTW when on the train and remembering his brothers suicide it shows MY house, I fell out of my chair! From now on I will be waving to ever train that I see pass! Even without this the movie was really good and enjoyable!

Well I have seen quite a few Canadian films that do not revole entirely around swearing and sex, ones like Bon con bad cop, cube, nothing, ginger snaps, Stander, and numerous others have a lot more to offer than just that.

I'm wondering if people's misconception of Canadian films being horrible revolves around the fact that for quite a while Canada had an unwritten agreement with the U.S. so that we as a Country only produced documentaries and left the dramatic narrative films to the States.
And so being no dramatic films being made in Canada people came to the conclusion it was cause we made terrible movies.

I actually like Canadian films and tv better than the ones made in US. They usually are not about picture perfect characters like those made in Hollywood, and they more likely have some depth in their story line. Well, I'm European, so my opinion probably won't have any meaning to you...

Are you kidding? I've seen numerous great Canadian films. Atom Egoyan, David Cronenberg, many others. I liked this film.

That's the problem with the Canadian film business. We have a lot of very talented directors (David Cronenberg, Atom Egoyan, Paul Haggis, Norman Jewison, etc), and we have a lot of great actors (Sutherland and sons, Michael Cera, Ellen Page, Ryan Gosling, Christopher Plummer, Mike Myers, Seth Rogen, Dan Aykroyd, etc).

But we have no big financial backing in Canada. That's why everyone goes to the south to get famous. More money on the film business is spent in Hollywood than in some provinces.
