Why wasn't this nominated for an Oscar

Instead some film about talking animals got nominated. The "Academy" needs to recognize the fact that animated films can also be for adults. Look at Waltz With Bashir, which was too good to miss a nomination so they nominated it for Best Foreign Language Film (smart and tricky that Oscar), even Persepolis (which should have won not Ratatouille -talking animals again!). There are only three stinking spots for the animation category. Why not fill them up and make it five, like the rest of the categories? Even this year they missed the boat on the children's film Tale of Despereaux (last year it was Beowulf), prefering Bolt.

Well, Yuri Norstein was also shafted and now Tale of Tales is being recognized as a wonder in animation, and soon cinema too. At least the "Academy" did not ignore Alexander Petrov.

why? oh its simple, because critics who decide are stuck up old fashioned consevative asses who still live in 19th century.

It wasn't nominated for an Oscar because it wasn't good enough
