Luddites? (Caution - plot details)

Don't you think that Karas and Mueller are Luddites? They can't accept that their world is about to change forever due to the progress, that's why they're trying to stop the pursuit of immortality? It makes them committing futile crimes - like removal of that girl could stop the progress - in the end somebody somewhere in the world would finally make the same discovery, maybe people even worse than that evil CEO, putting the mankind into even deeper trouble?

You can't stop the progress, if US wouldn't develop the A bomb then Soviets would - that would be a disaster. So who was really bad in this film - the girl, who was pursuing the opportunity like we all would probably do, or Karas and Mueller?

Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

That's my take on this too, protazek.
Karas's solution was moronic and disgusting to me.
Terrorist-logic.

Yes, I agree. It was such a stupid movie ending with the standard Luddite cliches. "without death life is meaningless" etc...

So disappointing. I was enjoying the movie till we got to that part. It's the standard Brave New World garbage. I tell you that book screwed up humanity.

Transcendence is another luddite film preaching the same garbage.
