Isn't this just....?

Micky Blue Eyes but in Russian...? People should be a bit more creative.

reply

You're kidding right? This is a love story, set in the reality of the New Russia. Mickey Blue Eyes was a comedy.

reply

The New Russia...please. It may have new ultra-high-end luxury retailers flashing their goods in Moscow and St. Petersburg and a bevy of nouveau riche oil and bank billionaires from the recent privitization of comapnies, but it still has to deal with the same crap as the Old Russia...corruption, straining bureacracy, distressed agricultural projects, and one hell of a problem in Chechnya. So really, what is the 'reality of the New Russia'? Only on the surface does it glitter...but is it really gold? But yeah, you were right on the comedy part...but that still doesn't mean this movie is in any way original or groundbreaking.

Have you ever been to Russia? If not, you are well read. What you are saying about corruption and beauracracy is true. This is an original fim, not a stereotypical "Russian Mafia" film, that is beautifully shot in three countries, and exhibits the "Russian soul," something you can't read about in Western newspapers.
