Terrible Movie

Was it just me, or was this the worst movie made in recent times??

It was awful in every respect, cast, costume, story, script and special effects.

It was just a hideous attempt at making a credible movie and I feel sorry for the poor people from Canada and France who have to take full responsibility for this steaming pile of junk.

I laughed out loud at the opening scenes when the rider was galloping along the fake-smoke filled lane, I chortled when the obvious film sets looked like... well... a film set, I chuckled at the terrible sounds of the fight scenes, I bellowed at the fake frost effects and the light cast upon the side of an actors face trick.

Oh dear, oh dear.

Gerard, you have allot to answer for.

Good for the comedy value and I would encourage any film goers to watch this movie as a shining example of how not to produce a movie.

Ho Ho Ho.

man are you right! i paid 12 bucks to see this thing and i couldn't take anymore after 30 minutes...This is still to date the only time I ever left the theater for a movie i paid. very bad indeed!

Now being marketed as the Battle of the Brave on DVD, should have been called the Battle of the Stupid. Everything in it is unbelievable, literally.

reply

no you are absolutely right, it is not very often i detest everything about a movie, but this has to be the worst I have seen since Mission to Mars.. and that is saying something.

the only redeemable feature was the appearance of Tim Roth and Jason Isaacs, but they looked like they were 2 seconds from laughing whenever they delivered dialogue.. what a load of shi* i actually watched the entire thing and want the 2 hours of my life back.

The fact I bought this dvd real cheap may have helpes my not resenting it too much as a complete waste of time. The scenery was OK, though not breathtaking. But I think it failed dramatically on the romance side. I couldn't bring myself to care the least for the two lead characters. Their story was completely eclipsed by the mother-daughter plot, which to me was the only good thing in this movie. Marie-Loup's icy blue stare when she blinks good-bye to her daughter (excellent child actor), the dialogues between the two daughters, Marie-Loup's pathetic father... There was a lot going on in this family which could have been so much better exploited and developed, had they simply dropped the love story. It was uninteresting and not the least thrilling. As if they had just thrown it in to make the movie more appealing, and completely failed. Not every movie can be Last of the Mohicans...

I'm a Sidekick and proud of it.

reply

Not the worst movie I have ever seen, but definitely a bucket of suck.

reply

I totally agree with everything that was said above.
Bad story, bad screenplay, bad director, bad acting, ...
Do not watch this.

reply

Not just you, this movie was pretty awful. Big ambitions and a lot of wasted money, bad script, big mistakes, confusion, actors looking like clown because they clearly thought they were taking part in something grand but turned out to be a flop. A wasted, confused effort.

reply

It wasn't that bad, but I had to make an effort to keep on watching it. The sets and costumes were handsome enough, the child actor very good indeed.

I suspect it might have made an OK TV mini-series if they'd kept the French bits in French and given themselves the time to expand on the historical aspects and maybe actually employed a historian to remove the many absurdities (Benjamin Franklin as the evil mastermind behind the British conquest, Wolfe as a carpet-chewing psychopath etc).

But as a movie it is indeed terrible....
