The movie is nothing but chinese propaganda!

China hast occupied Tibet in the years of 1950 and they try to destroy tibetian culture und the tibetians themselfes.

reply

What are you talking about? Have you even watched the movie? Did you not get the blatant message of discrimination towards Tibetians in this film? This is one of the finest political pieces about the ongoing discrimination towards Tibetians by Han Chinese. Plus it was a Chinese Production as well.

The message was how little the chinese government/people cared about the needs of the Tibetian people. The fact that Tibetans had to do everything themselves while the Han chinese got a free pass at everything. The Tibetians had to protect their endangered wild-life independently, while everywhere else in China the government does all of this. It wasn't until a chinese journalist (Ga Yu) wrote about the lack of support/resources that these people had and how they've asked for help from the government and were continuely ignored that the Chinese Government decided stepped in. It was a bittersweet victory because by then all of the key members of The Tibetan Mountain Patrol were killed by Han Chinese pouchers. The saddest part of the whole story was that this really happened and that it was based on a true story.

Next time watch the movie or learn to read the subtitles before you open your mouth.

reply

Yeah! Did you see how all the Tibetans were portraited as women raping murderers??? They also killed Tibetan rabbits in the film!!! OMG THEY ARE TRYING TO WIPEOUT OUR RABBITS!

reply

wow, this is the most funny comment I have ever read during my 30 years life on earth.

Even such a film can be portrayed as propaganda.

The imagination and creativity of westerners are really beyong most normal people's intelligence and expectation.

Why don't you say that the US goverment acknowledged that Tibet is a part of China before 1949? Seven Years in Tibet was based on a novel written by a NAZI Harrer. So, that movie is truly propaganda.

Go and do some research before you utter such funny words and conclude the most ridiculous comments on a FILM.

reply

The OP is just another pathetic troll.
Get over it! Kekexili is a wonderful picture that depicts the life and death of a particular group of men who happens to be tibetans. It's not about politics!

I have not yet watched the movie. I will see the film tonight.

I find this thread intriguing.

pear89 said: "When I went to China I had a few Tibetan colleagues and what they cared most about was the economy and moving up the ranks in their jobs."

I find this comment interesting for many reasons. The primary being the severity of brainwashing achieved on your "colleagues." pear89, are you 20 years old? I am not sure if objectivity or myopia is the issue main issue here. But it is huge, glaring, and terrifying.

On the other hand, even if the film is propaganda, at least it is of a different sort. Stateside, we find ourselves inundated with Zionist propaganda.

I think there's this sepia-toned infused picture Westerners have of Tibetans and other dispossessed tribes. The truth is that economic well-being is quite the priority for a lot of people, Tibetans, Chinese, not to mention Europeans and Americans. Come on, money talks! Why would anyone assume that Tibetans don't care if they or their children get an education, find a job or go hungry? It doesn't make them good or evil, it makes them HUMAN.

There *has* to be avenues and opportunities for survival for all, without exerting a toll on nature and resources. The RICH countries can certainly do their part!

In the end, the film illustrates how it is all a struggle, but without the demand for the pelts from the West and India, there will not even be an economic motive for this.

Think about how the US is drilling in Alaska or the whaling nations like Iceland or Japan conducting GOVERNMENT-SUPPORTED mass slaughter of endangered whales for "scientific research". Do you see Japanese or Northern Europeans whale patrols? Only the impoverished Sea Shepard Society cares. How is it that they're less evil?

This film is AMAZING in showing the rare courageous few who care enough to risk their lives for this quixotic quest, and paying dearly for it. What is great is that their story is told and they will be remembered for it.

US = Alaska
Japan /= whales

Well, snes4u, pear89 visited Tibet. Have you?

If you haven't, you don't have a right to comment on someone else's firsthand observation of that place.

reply

ky chong,

Are you Chinese? Did this film affect your reaction to comments here on IMDB?

pear89 visited China. Her "firsthand observation" of Tibet would be...how do you say...nonexistent. My "right to comment" is in order.

To answer your question, I have never been to Tibet.

Love,

Jaime

reply

How can you make a justified assessment of a place without even bothering to visit it?

reply

Ky,

I hope you are not talking to me. Read.

reply

Clearly, you didn't watch the movie, maybe just trailer or read the synopsis

That patrol was a group of Tibetans concerned about their dearest Kekexili
got their funds themselves to make that work,
didn't have government financial support.

Now, how could it be Chinese Propaganda?
Oh, yeah! They thought "let's make a movie, where we'll show how negligent we are,
in this way the world could see our greatest Government".
Perfect plan to make propaganda.

I read why the people is calling propaganda to this movie
and reasons seem to be particular in all cases, here it's saying
"Chinese Government is destroying the Tibet in every aspect", in other places said
"this film shows the Tibetan culture as it's not", "it shows that Chinese government
doesn't have any foot over the land they occupied", etc.

After watched all this movie I didn't think:
"oh, Tibetans are like that, they act like this"
I just watched a group of heroic men protecting what they love and respect
before read these comments about propaganda, I never thought about their
nationality and country, now you've contaminated my mind.
Moralists are the first to pervert things.

reply

Tibet IS occupied, Tibetan culture IS being destroyed, and no critical film can ever be made, let alone shown in China. Period. And don't insult peoples intelligence by that investments-talk either. Hitler invested heavily, too.
Yes, the film IS pure propaganda.

Native American culture is being destroyed by American colonialists, the people should be freed and the land returned. Hawaii is also an occupied territory, it needs to given back. Oops, too late, 90% of the Native American population has been decimated already.

Re: first poster
Nevermind him, he can't investigate matters and think for himself.

Also, an obvious (not to all viewers, apparently) and important point that I left out in my earlier post is that the movie clearly reserves most of its sympathies for the Tibetan people. Did the innocent Tibet citizens pleading for mercy in the face of violence shown by the government officers not bring home the point? Anyone with even remote awareness of how wealth is distributed in the world (nay; actually a mere junior high school education would do) would be able to intuit from this film that the Tibetan poachers are doing it out of poverty anyway.

Way to show yourself as being mentally deficient. Ok now I'm done with this thread.
