Realism hardly is people.
Quit complaining about the ending. It was exactly how it should be.
"zomg, i haet this movei b/c teh ending ain't all nutra-sweet picture perfect."
If you hated this movie, then go watch American Beauty or Children of Men or something. That kind of base level pseudo-intellectual tripe ought to make you very happy. Stop badtalking great movies simply because you don't understand them.

I've made a huge mistake.
Just because someone prefers a happy ending over a sad doesn't mean that they're naive or too stupid to understand the material. I've seen people who will like any movie or book and call it revolutionary and realisitic as long as it ends in a negative fashion (angst-addicts), likewise some people never stop digging and arguing until they find some semblance of a happy ending (which is actually a good life-metaphore).
There's an old saying-
"People who go looking for happyness will eventually find it.
People who go looking for saddness will eventually find it."
You can't judge people just because they pick the former.
I think the ending was realistic as well. But there have been movies that I've hated because of the ending or when a certain character died. For example The Departed, which I refuse to watch a second time.
shareSorry the movie sucked and had no real intellectual base. It's unfortunate people feel the need to defend bad movies by telling others they "don't get it." You can like a movie that most people don't. It's ok. It doesn't have to turn in to a pissing contest over who can comprehend the complex messages a film maker might, or might not be trying to get across.
And it was the film itself that had a problem, not the ending alone.
Just saw this movie for the 1st time.
I felt a better ending would have had Andrea killing her brother and then here and shy leavng the islands on a boat,,,,,,,,,, Trying to figure out how they were going to live there lives!
It was an ok movie. Not great but it wasn't a waste of my time or anything so I appreciated that.
