For some reason as I was watching this movie i almost felt like she was my gf and i felt what Orlando Bloom was feeling when he saw her having sex with another man. Also throughout the movie i just so sorry for her and just wishing that she and bloom would get back together. I loved this movie mainly on the connection those two had and just how the movie was all brought together.

yeah the dad did know he just wanted to keep Andrea in a little bubble because she was his princess. She wasn't a bitch at all but she was messed up and troubled.

I agree Zoe is a beautiful girl and they look good together. I just was thinking throughout the film "Stand up to your father!"...having him go around saying your boyfriend raped you..even though it was consensual sex. When she said she let him in, her father shouted back "NO YOU DID NOT". As he wanted to be in denial. Then she spiraled into the world of drugs and sleeping around. I felt sorry for her because she got lost, got into bad ways. She didn't have her brother around or Shy around to see her evey move. Andrea didn't have the innocent, pure reputation to look at. She just got fed up with being pushed around by her father and pushed away from Shy. That's when things turned around and her life went off track. I did like her character but at some points I didn't. The only thing I hated was for her brother to be ok with Andrea *beep* around with random guys, then to just solely be with one. The one she truly loved and had a pure heart when with him.

I think people are forgetting how young Andrea's brother was. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it when he said he'd rather have his sister sleeping with random guys than Shy, he was just saying that b/c he didn't like Shy and he was being a petty teenager.

Anyway, I dont think Andrea was a b*tch at heart. She became hard because she opened her heart and everything fell to pieces. She had only been made love to ONCE, after that, I think she was just trying to get that feeling back,the way she felt with Shy before he was taken away from her, by her father/brother and of his own volition. The problem was that no one else was actually making love to her if you know what I mean. She was the most coveted woman on the island, beautiful and rich, they were taking advantage and she was using them too. The drugs numbed the pain, she didnt want to feel anymore and being high meant that she didnt have to. Her parents let her do what she wanted to because they felt guilty about hurting her and tearing her away from her one true love and they were overcompensating, plus she was eighteen.

I've been a fan of Zoe Saldana's for a while now. This film just reaffirms my my opinion of her film repetoire.
shareshe reminded me of my ex, in that my ex and I had a similar relationship. Not most of the events in the movie of course, but similar feelings and how everything fell apart from the inside out.
