I watched the movie for the first time last night and never picked up on this???

Did I miss something?

on the dock he leans in to kiss shy while discussing Andrea.

It seem clear that Patrick was in love with Shy when he tried to kiss him. Plus Patrick seem a little too jealous of Andrea.
