Ehm, exactly what is it that you dont understand. Charles sabotages Martins chances of getting in the House of Lords so they can keep working together...Or it it something else?

I don't get how they resolved the invented illness thing.

At the end they come up with this great plan, but don't say what it is. We're supposed to get it, but I don't.

Do you perhaps mean the season 1 finale?

If so, they didnt solve it, they got cought, and Charles had to apologise and grouble to the press...

the plan was that they were to confess to all charges. Its as simple as that. Go for public sympathy
