History man question.

My English are not too good, their accent is so "English" that I cannot understand them so well. The problem is that even with the subtitles I have words I don't understand.

This is not happening to me with American movies or series.

Anyway, I was watching the first episode. What happened in the end? Why they wanted to hide the historian's wife and why that other guy would pay for the expenses?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

I realize that you probably won't see this reply (and probably don't care at this point!), but just in case:

Charles (the PR whiz) is taking the historian's wife to an undisclosed location because he wants to negotiate a better deal for her -- the editor of the tabloid newspaper was prepared to pay her £20,000 for her story, but Charles knows he can get her much more (he thinks he can get her £250,000).
. . . . . . The editor will want to print the story ASAP, so Charles hides her to increase his own negotiating power. And, Charles says that Marcus (the editor) will pay for the expensive hotel room where she'll be hidden because that's just one more way for him to prove that he has much more power than Marcus, that he (Charles) is calling the shots and that no one can outsmart him.

"All you need to start an asylum is an empty room and the right kind of people."
