Too Much Action?

Everyone loves the grand finale' at the end of a fireworks display. Pyrotechnicians know they need to be powerful, but brief or the audience will lose interest.

Same thing goes for over the top action scenes, if they last for more than 3-4 minutes, the audience gets numbed. Unfortunately, the director didn't apply my theorem to his action sequences. After a while, the action scenes became monotonous and even boring.
