THE SUFFERING movie

I have been informed that there is gonna be a THE SUFFERING movie, but i can't find any evidence of this can someone show me some evidence?

reply

I have no idea but I sure hope The Suffering gets made into a movie, I loved the game. I myself would like to hear more about the movie if it really is being planned.

reply

Two words that make me dread it being made into a move: Uwe Boll.

I hope Boll has no involvement with it, as long as he doesn't I'd look forward to the movie adaptation, it'd be great if done right.

reply

I am surprised that a crazed gamer has not killed Boll yet. If he tries to *beep* this great game up I may have to take matters into my own hands ;)

Who is Uwe Boll?

reply

Uwe Boll is the director of the House Of The Dead and Alone In The Dark movies, and he's also directing several upcoming films based on video games. He's a terrible director IMO, I caught House Of The Dead on Showtime and what I saw all speaks for itself.

reply

The Suffering turn into a movie? that'll be awesome, has a good backdrop for a movie and the storyline fits a movie well, my recommendation for the director is anyone BUT Uwe Boll, House of the Dead sucked big time and Alone in the Dark looked cheesy.

reply

The master of Dark-Fantasy CLIVE BARKER,(HELLRASIER) should direct the movie,I mind the game has so dark-fantasy in a way. Richard Taylor (THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy) and Tom Savini (DAWN OF THE DEAD) should be the special and visual effect artist and producer Mark Canton (LAND OF THE DEAD) can produce the film.

Bet that BOLL.

reply

First, no Uwe Bowel, and second, it must follow the game, since the plot is simple enough to be fully turned into a film. Since the game is pretty much an interactive horror film.
I can't really think of a good director, but someone whose good, but also not a washup.

Something would need to be changed though. It's really scary and it has a perfect setting but the end of the game is WAY too stupid. That big huge monster and the Dr. Killyjoy AND the thing that made the creatures come back to life was when the game started to get way too stupid. I loved The Suffering and while I was playing it I was saying "This has to be a movie! If they dont make it a movie I will!" lol, but I think some of the story should be changed. The creatures should stay and the movie shouldnt involve the stupid ending. Other then that I say the story for almost the entire game (Carnate Island, the the creatures representation of each one's dead or experiment by Killjoy). I also think a sense of drama can be added to the film like the familie's death and the fact that the main character goes insane. Kepping the Killjoy's magic formula to bring things back to life and the giant monster at the end is WAY too stupid and would probably bring the film down.

The perfect place to film would be at Eastern State. I was there at their Halloween event and it's SCARY. The game definitly reminds me of it. So I think it should be more then just a slasher horror and focus on the main character and the setting (which is what basically made the game). If Uwe Boll or Paul W. S. Anderson does it, I'll die. I wouldnt want it to turn into a shoot out movie like The House of the Dead or Resident Evil.

reply

Maybe Guillermo Del Toro could direct the movie, he's done movies like Blade II, Devil's Backbone and Hellboy, he could make the movie creepy and atmospheric and also inject plenty of action as well. John Carpenter is also a good choice to direct.

reply

What do you mean, the story was perfect, far better than Freddy or Jason or Micheal's retarded reasons for being. The creature at the end worked, but needs more foreshadowing, since it just kinda popped up at the end all of a sudden. Killjoy's magic revival would work like it did in the game, that in the beginning you just shoot slayers, but later need to blow their head off to really kill them. The flash backs would need to be more elaborate in detailing what happened, and like I said, it should be good ending, but have slightly different versions for DVD. It'd be dumb if the movie was just one ending and nothing more. The Giant creature was necessary, it's the real monster within Torque, he has to face something in the end, it's not dumb, it was just not really expected. It needs to be foreshadowed like in the bonus starting level. They could have that scene in the movie, but not have Torque turn into a monster, or at least not show it, but still show an omen of what will happen. This is one of the better done survival horror games, other than RE4. But this one is like the classic monsters from whatever films, but actually good in presentation and story. I mean, all the prisoners were very realistic in their actions, even if they cursed more than a 5 year old who just learned the f-bomb.
They should film it in Maine, the state has got some really nice places. The woods can be creepy at night, and the town can have a real atmosphere at night.
But yeah, we need someone whose a master of dark, gritty films. No retards who change the story to something about a virus or Martha Stuart being the source of the evil.

reply

Hold up........I dunno if we're talking about the same thing. Torque turning into his rage monster is fine. But I thought the creatures represent their tortures/executions of real people. Where does this monster that pops out of the water fall in? He had no background. The first ideas of the story are something that you can see happening----the spirits of those who were executed and tortured come back to the prison for revenge. But the whole thing with Killjoy's magic totally turned me off. My other friends who played it even said that was stupid. I seriously think if they leave the magic and the last monster the film will bomb. Then again, this is my opinion.

reply

True, but come on, the creature made since, it was manifestation of Torque's hatred and fury, they just need to give more foreshadowing than just having him pop out of the water. Killjoy's magic revival could stay, but maybe give more reason to why he does it, since it seems like he was being an ass in the game, but if they did, say because Torque smashes his lab up, that could work, and besides, it probably be a problem for one scene, the rest of the movie Torque would be sure to blow them to bits. But this is my opinion too. I just think they shouldn't screw with what's there, if they did, they may as well not have Clem's notes. The creature is real, but only because Torque made it so, by letting his negitive emotions build, it manifested, that's probably the reason for that giant worm thingie in Suffering 2, though it's probably not connected to Torque. I mean, Killjoy is around, as a being of light, you can't be killed by light, unless if he was an albino, but I doubt that. Now I know that then how come other immates wouldn't have a monster of their own, but don't forget, Torque does have a greater connection to the whole thing, and the later games will reveal what. Also, it's possible that the Creature was only in Torque's mind, and Clem only saw it because of how the evil of Carnate makes *beep* happen. But we'll just have to wait till Suffering 2 happens to see if that answers exactly what's happening and why precisely.

reply

I see your point now. But there's something we both overlooked. Movies never follow the game exactly. So if a movie is made then it might not be entirely "faithful" to the game. The giant worm? That's in the 1st one too right? But it's not a worm. It's a guy who was wrapped up and tied up with chains and hooks and buried alive.

first they should make 3 movies good bad neutral
2nd sum1 should start a petition to stop uwe boll re ruins everything

reply

^there's already been a petition. I signed it. Someone put it up on either the Alone in the Dark board, the Bloodrayne board, OR The House of the Dead 2 (OH GOD!) board. I think they should film 3 endings, pick which one they like best and then put the other 2 on DVD when that comes out.

No, the giant worm like thing they showed in the suffering 2 trailer, I thik it's called the "Horde" or something, what your thinking is the "Burrower" I know what they are, the buried alived guys.

reply

If you where a huge fan of the Arcade game House of the Dead, Like myself you would have got a DVD version which I did In the special features he talks about how the game was an influence in his work but the movie wasn't spouse to reflect the game in any way. On top of that he didn't want to make it a horror or a scary movie it was meant to be an action packed killing zombie movie...Now I never played Alone in the Dark, So I don't know what the problem was with the movie but I really liked the movie ALOT, The second one was garbage but the first was kinda epic, Well played out story line with a suspenseful ending. I'm a Hardcore Gamer, But when it comes to movies about games you need to realize that their two different things, Never judge a movie on how it follows a previous story line, Take it as two different experiences.

reply

I know, I know. 7 years later, but I JUST read about a possible movie.

and not only does House of the Dead speak for his inability to make movies, so does Bloodrayne and all of its sequels. oh dear gods he is STILL making movies too. but it doesn't look like he's trying to ruin any more video games...yet.

oh, and as far as a movie adaptation of The Suffering, I haven't seen anything that says this is happening.

reply

... maybe because the guy who was working on it, stan winston, passed away in 2008... so who knows what.

Oh NO! Now it's gonna suck! MTV is behind it! They'll probably cast a bunch of teen-hearthrob actors like people who can be seen on those shows like The OC. How could they let MTV get their hands on it. The only one's who I could see making a great Suffering movie is Universal or Lions Gates.

Hey. I was playing this game and it was one of the best games I have ever played. Seriously. The problem occured that I haven't finished it because of some reasons that I don't remember. Since I don't want to play it again but I would rather play the sequel, can someone tell me what happen at the end of the game and what's the deal with the family? Is he a murderer, what really happened...? Please. Thanks very much.

***Major spoilers!!!***

The three endings:

Good: Torque is revealed to be innocent and after killing the big monster the Coast Guard picks him up and he relaxes, and the guard tells him he will get a new trial.

Bad: Torque is revealed to be guilty of the murders and after killing the monster kills the Coast Guard and transforms into a monster and disappears into the island's foliage.

Neutral: It's revealed Torque killed his family but by accident and not deliberately, and after he kills the monster and the Coast Guard comes he knocks the guard unconcious and takes command of the boat.

the good ending sounds bad :) "Hey, you killed the island's monster! Now, you'll get a new trial!"

The bad and the neutral are slick. Can't wait to play the second one...

And btw, thanks everyone.
