I myself prefer Sims 2 and am tempted to uninstall 3 to play two again. However I can't put my finger on what made 2 so much better, any ideas? The Music is an obvious choice to begin with.

I don't understand why people like Sims 2 more than Sims 3. I used to play TS2 religiously, but since I got TS3 (on the day it came out) I haven't so much as looked at TS2, let alone played it! And that's like... 6 months now! IMO, Sims 3 beats Sims 2 hands down, in every way.
Personally, I like the look of the sims in TS3.
The traits system is AWESOME - now sims can have real personalities and quirks!
I love how we can go to cool places like Egypt, China and France, and I love the quests that you get to do on vacation.
The story progression is GENIUS, and makes legacies work SO much better!
And that's just a few of my fave things, lol!
The Voices, Their Looks, everything...It's just better!

I agree that they have a better look in sims 2. I think sims 3 will become more appealing once more the expansion packs have been released though. That's part of the reason why I like sims 2 more, it has all these extra goodies that sims 3 doesn't have yet.

Simply because there's more to do. The Sims 3 is obviously the better game, but until there are enough expansion packs The Sims 2 will be better to play. A better comparison at the minute would be to ask whether The Sims 2 sans expansion packs is better than 3, sans expansion pack(s); and the answer is obviously that 3 is superior. Within the confines of just having a house and working, 3 offers much more variety

Sims 2 is superior in one way, if you like running multiple houses. Sims 3 works best with only one family.

There are little tweeks and trans that make it better than The Sims 3 and bits in the Sims 3 that make it better than The Sims 2.

The Sims 3 gets a little boring because you can only play with one family. It's really boring when you only have one Sim in the household
I find myself making my Sim visit and sleep over other Sim's houses just to see a new family
The babies in SIMS3 annoy me hate that made them wrapped in blankets especially as a default!!!!. They look like coocoons.
