BEN KEATS spearheads a company that has developed a satellite imaging system that can track any animal on the planet who ingests a chemically developed glucose solution. He and his mentor, HENRY WESTERBROOK, the CEO of his company, hope to use this system known as 'Kidtrack' to locate missing children. Despite the promising trials and the prospect of future wealth, Ben has been struggling both financially and emotionally to support his wife LAURA and their two teenaged children.

As 'Kidtrack' is about to gain FDA approval, problems arise. Henry tells Ben he has leukemia but wants to keep his condition secret until the 'Kidtrack' is able to go public. Enter VINCENT PALMER a ruthless corporate head-hunter hired by a competing technology mega-corporation. They want Ben and "Kidtrack" taken away from Henry Westerbrook and don't care who gets hurt in the process. Vincent offers Ben a hefty salary and benefits package, everything Ben has ever wanted. Ben is torn between his loyalty to Henry and being able to provide for his family. Ben rejects the offer.

Vincent will not take no for an answer. Rumours of Ben's leaving "Kidtrack" have already begun to circulate thanks to Vincent. Vincent next changes tactics, by invading Ben's family. Befriending Laura, Vincent flies the family away on a skiing vacation. Vincent's charm wins the hearts and minds of Laura and the kids. Vincent is tireless; he seems to know everything and appears everywhere in Ben's life. Vincent begins to stalk Ben. Lurking outside the Keats' home, he watches them in the night, often making threatening phone calls. He sends Ben anonymous gifts, presses other employees from Ben's company for info -- all the while feeding the rumours of Ben's imminent departure. The misinformation floating around Ben now cloisters him in. No one speaks a word to Ben anymore. In a private moment, Vincent coolly tells Ben that once he killed a man's wife to make him take a job. Fed up, Ben begins to fight back. He tracks down one of Vincent's former hires, whose wife mysteriously died of heart failure just before he took his new job. His nervous advice to Ben: if you love your family, take the job or kill Vincent.

The very day "Kidtrack" goes public, Vincent releases Henry's medical file and spreads the rumour that 'Kidtrack' is defective. As Ben fights to keep his company afloat, Vincent steps up his personal manipulation of Laura, suggesting that the late night calls are from Ben's lover. Undermined in his own bedroom and at the office, Ben is backed into a corner. For Ben it's fight-or-flight! He must find a way out of the elaborate maze Vincent erected around him, or his family will die. But the only way to save them is to beat Vincent at his own deadly game
