what's the movie trying to say ?

hi there

I just watched the movie and I feel kindda lost. What exactly is the point of the movie ? I don't live in America so I have no idea about the case. The acting and movie making's creat but I just think it's too straight forward? Is there anything I'm s'pose to know?

If you don't live in America, I can understand why you would be totally confused by this film. Scott Peterson was a salesman (of fertilizer of all things) living what people thought was an idyllic life in Modesto, CA with his truly lovely, beautiful wife, Laci. She was expecting their first child, a son, Connor, when he savagely murdered her. The trial went on for months and months, and it became more and more apparent that he was guilty. He had told his mistress, Amber, (who had no clue he was married) that he had "lost his wife" even before he got rid of her! He is a sociopath and his behavior reflected that. If you're really interested, you can do a search on the "Scott Peterson" and get a full rundown of the story.

This film just takes a tiny piece of the story and presents it. The film basically focuses on how his friends and family, who initially supported him fully and believed in his innocence, one by one come to see him as the cold-blooded monster that he is. His mother-in-law's (Sharon Rocha) moment of truth came when she realized that when Scott first called her to say he didn't know where Laci was, he said, "She's missing," rather than "She's not home." Only a killer anxious to put his plan into motion would say "she's missing" when there was no reason on earth for Laci not to be out somewhere doing something.

So, you saw a small piece of a MUCH bigger story; no way could you really get the point!
