Rokky, I will admit you do make a good point.
It's a raw, unpolished idea at this point...Probley to make it sell, it would have to have some kind of personal story to it, it would have to have some commerical elements to it. But that isn't impossible in my opinion. It can be done. I'll admit it won't be the easist sell, but it can be done. There are lots of "out there" ideas that don't seem like anyone could make them at first, but then they end up getting made eventually and sometimes they turn out very well. If I'm not mistaken, Speilberg couldn't get "Schindler's List" made for years. And everyone knows that no major studio would touch "Passion of the Christ". Unlikely movies DO get made in Hollywood sometimes. And the thing is, this was a national news story and many, many know who Laci Peterson is now, many of them were deeply sadden by her death. It's wouldn't be a blockbuster movie, nor is it meant to be, but yeah, I think some people would see it if it's done right.
I could see my Laci movie idea being made by an art-house division of a studio and being a limited/platform type release. That's usually how these kinds of movies get their backing. But that's why I wouldn't want to do this. I just want to see a movie about Laci Peterson that isn't about Scott and the trial, and one that actually cares about Laci.
Luckily, I want to be a screenwriter/filmmaker someday so when I make it big in Hollywood, and when I have power in the industry, I will make this movie. Someday. It would mean the world to me.For what it's worth, even though I want to make this movie eventually, I am very much into commerial, big budget type blockbuster movies. I love the Lord of the Rings and The Matrix trilogies, and I'm probley going to take some s--t for this, but I am a big fan of Michael Bay movies. That's not to say Michael Bay movies are the only kind of movies I like, because I like all kinds of movies, but I just so happen to enjoy his movies and would love to someday make big budget blockbusters like that. Being a good filmmaker, in my opinion, is knowing what is a blockbuster movie and knowing what isn't a blockbuster movie.
Getting back to Laci...as an aspiring filmmaker, this is a dream project for me and someday I will make it. Yeah, I know it's going to be really hard to do, but all good things in life require hard work anyway.
By the way...only an unknown could play Laci in my opinion...Interesting casting but I don't see Angelina playing her.

Not once have you explained what a "movie about Laci" would actually be about. I'm sorry, but it seems that up until her death, Laci had a very ordinary life like millions of people. How would that be interesting as a movie?
What I would've liked to see, though, was a movie that focuses more on human drama and the emotions of the family instead of some uninteresting fictitious couple and simply listing all the facts in chronological order.
But I think many of the actors were well-cast and Dean Cain did a good job.
