GONE GIRL???

I haven't watched this movie, but I was reading it's storyline.
I also just finished reading gone girl! and the similarities between the two stories are shocking! this movie came out in 2004, gone girl is a new book. Does this mean the author watched this movie and "got inspired" !
of course the plot twists in the book are huge and very different, but the way investigation went and the wife's family's reaction is exactly the same for example!
Any thoughts?

Well, but this movie actually happened... Look it up. If the Flynn was inspired by anything, it was the real investigation. As far as I can remember, this was the first time a true sociopath was publicly out there for everyone to see. His Good Morning America interview was the most bizarre thing I can remember seeing on TV.

I just realized the super similarities. I guess there is nothing original in this world lol.

The author has said that this real case was a big inspiration for the novel.
Both young attractive couples, each married five years, each woman supposedly pregnant (if you have seen Gone Girl, you know why I say supposedly) and each husband having an affair.
Since I followed this case very closely, I definitely saw the similarities immediately.
Liked the movie "Gone Girl", but have not read the book.
This real case was so captivating, and really sad.
You never know what goes on behind closed doors:(
