No. You should see the movie and make your own decision, but here's a new review of the DVD from Eclipse Magazine--

MY BIG FAT INDEPENDENT MOVIE

Thanks to “Airplane!,” “Scary Movie,” “Not Another Teen Movie,” and others, most movie genres have been subjected to merciless satire, spoofery and/or serious ribbing. Now, it’s the indies’ turn. “My Big, Fat Independent Movie” takes aim at low-budget, self-consciously arty productions with slightly more than occasional success.

Produced for “well under a mill,” “BigFat” takes shots at more than thirty indie hits, including: “Amelie,” “My Big, Fat Greek Wedding,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “Pulp Fiction,” “El Mariachi,” “Memento” and so forth… The plot, such as it is, revolves around an assignment to commit a “botched robbery,” and involves many of the most clichéd plot twists around: mistaken identity, stalkers, lesbians, Mexican standoffs, and so forth.

What makes “BigFat” unique is the way writers Adam Schwartz and Chris Gore take aim at each of the clichés – and each of the movies they send up [the opening sequence is one of the best riffs on “Memento” that could be imagined]. They’re fearless in taking their targets way beyond the expected, and director Philip Zlotorynski does an impressive job of realizing their script with such a small budget. Notable performances come from Ashley Head, [Anomalie] and Brain Krow [Memento Guy] – as well as Paget Brewster’s turn [and turn is the right word] as Julianne, the not-so “Good Girl.”

Once again, Anchor Bay entertainment has done a terrific job finding a quirky little movie that deserves to be seen.

“BigFat” includes the following features: audio commentary from Zlotorynski and Gore [insightful and as entertaining as the movie]; “The Making of My Big, Fat Independent Movie” [almost a production class], and the theatrical trailer.

Grade: My Big, Fat Independent Movie – B
Grade: Features: B+

Final Grade: B

You've got some nerve labeling another user as a troll, considering you've been trolling this board for months badmouthing this movie like it's going out of style. The last three posts you've made have been solely to tear down this movie.

PS- the Film Threat review was not bogus. It was written by a freelancer and submitted independently. If you read the review you'd know that.

PPS- Reviews don't mean crap and any real movie fan knows this. The Scary Movie series have gotten mixed to bad reviews according to Rotten Tomatoes (51%, 11% and 39% respectively) and still made hundreds of millions of dollars. Not Another Teen Movie got terrible reviews (28% on your favorite site) and plenty of people saw it anyway.

Bottom line is your argument ranks weak to non-existant, so shut your pie-hole and let people decide for themselves.

Based on your previous posts at other boards, you seem to have a general dislike for spoof comedies. You've badmouthed Not Another Teen Movie as well as Date Movie, both spoofs in the same style as this movie. So you don't seem to be the right audience for a movie like this in the first place. You also don't offer any specifics to back up your opinion, just repeating "it sucks" and "it's really bad" blah blah blah.

I think the movie is funny, and the extra scenes in the unrated version are funny too. The commentaries are entertaining and the 2nd DVD with all the special features is great. Overall, I think this is the best comedy DVD I've owned in a long time.

If you get so upset about wasting your time, you should stop trying to get Arrested Development back on the air.

Well that clears things up a little, although I'm shocked that you're lumping Spy Hard into any category with Airplane or Naked Gun. Spy Hard is one of the worst spoofs EVER, the very definition of stupid and brainless. The only redeeming part of Spy Hard is the opening credits and even that's a stretch. Guess this just proves that it's all a matter of taste.

Out of curiosity, what did you think of other spoofs like Mafia, Loaded Weapon or Scary Movie?

I don't know if I am adding anything here but, everyone needs to make up there own mind about movies like this. Some people just don't enjoy spoofs. I liked it!

k ya i saw and it was a piece of *beep*
i didnt even watcht the whole thing.

Bravo! Another well-written, intelligent review for the IMDB message boards. Spelling and punctuation aside, I'm not even sure if the first sentence is English.

ur ugly.

Wow. These people just keep making my point for me.

I'm not saying this movie is high-brow, but it might help if the viewer understands basic sentence structure. In his defense, he probably typed with one hand while holding his joint rubbin' it out to the midget in the orgy scene.

reply

Hey! Midgets rule! Well, as long as they are on the screen and not like near me cause that would be creepy. What did you cats think of the DVD packaging? I thought the velcrowed cover was kind of funny.

Date Movie and Not Another Teen Movie were absolute pieces of *beep* There have been many wonderful spoof movies but unfortunately they were mostly in the 80's and early 90's

reply

Apparently if you liked it, you're a pretentious *beep* and if you hated it, you are an idiot without a sense of humour.

So those are your options.

I decided to watch this movie one more time since no movie could possibly be as bad as I thought this movie was. My first impression was wrong. It's even worse.

I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't all that funny, but it was quite entertaining and it was fun to pick out all those references to obscure movies.
