Complete list of references. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs,etc......

OK, I just watched this film and I recognized most of the references, but some are unfamiliar.
The one's I picked up include:

Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Swingers
Amelie
Run Lola Run
The Good Girl
The Hours
Dancer in the Dark
Far From Heaven
Memento
Clerks
El Mariachi
Pi
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Magnolia
Being John Malkovich
Snatch
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Sex, Lies, and Videotape
Timecode (a Mike Figgis film)(the 4 split screen scene)
Mulholland Drive

Maybe I am forgetting some... But if you can help me out with others I would appreciate it.

When the two Irish guys at the beginning walked out it reminded me of Boondock Saints a bit, but I'm not sure if that was an intentional reference or not.

Waking Life

That was a reference to Guy Ritchie movies, such as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

Christianity gave Eros poison to drink: he did not die of it but degenerated - into a vice.

I havent watched this movie although I just got a copy & I can already
tell there's jusy way too many references.
I've seen about 22 of the entire list of movies & that just tells me you
need to be a complete movie nerd like myself to get a good number of the jokes.
Newer parodies/spoofs arent really too funny (Scary Movie, Not Another Teen, Date... how many parody movies lately need to end in 'movie'? Just goes to show that nowadays jokes need to be spelled out for the unthinking audience).
At least movies like Airplane & Spaceballs did it well.

what is the lanky man spoofing?

Uwe Boll makes Ed Wood look like Orson Welles.

reply

I think it is just mocking christopher walken in a way I do not no though I can't think of any movie where he is like that right now.

reply

the lanky man is a reference to Christopher Walken because he usually has some sort of cameo in alot of independent movies and that actor who played the lanky man is known in the indy circuit for his spot on Walken impression from a short he made called Conversations with Christopher Walken.
i think the writers actually say in the commentary that you cant make an independent movie without somehow involving Walken.

My question is... what were they spoofing with the Jason Mewes/answering machine? I can't come up with anything, maybe I never saw the original.

reply

That's from "Swingers"

That movie is called Day Without A Mexican I think.

Watching the spoof of Timecode was more enjoyable than the actual movie Timecode, since Timecode robbed me of 90 minutes I'll never get back.
