Harry, Ron and Hermione

Did anyone else notice that the characters of DJ, Chowder and Jenny were kind of deriative of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
DJ/Harry - Black hair, thin build. The "Hero" of the film. He is smart and courageous and always thinks up the plans.
Chowder/Ron - The sidekick. Basically there for comic relief. He is frightened most of the time and keeps screwing things up.
Jenny/Hermione - Same looks. Smart. Doesn't want to be with our two other characters to begin but they grow on her. Especially Harry/DJ.
They seemed a little too close for my liking. Almost like the makers of this film were trying to cash in on the Harry Potter phase without making up their own characters.

lorethief: The book (Eragon) WAS great.
roboticwaffle: Why was the book great?
LT: Whatever.

Two boys and a girl, but that's about it. In the Harry Potter series, Harry and Hermione don't have any romantic sparks on the horizon: they are just close friends. Now Ron and Hermione -- there is probably something going on there. By the 6th book in the series, it's pretty obvious that a romance is blooming there; and Harry is falling for Ron's sister, Ginny. At least that's the way it is in the books.

If you read all my post I stated more reasons that just "two boys and a girl".
In the first couple of movies I think it was hinted at something between Harry and Hermione, just nothing became of it.

Then there was the tree attacking the police car, the same way that the Weeping Willow, nearly destroyed the Mr. Weasley's car. Then the tree grabbed the police officers and threw them in the house. Kind of like when the Weeping Willow threw Ron Weasley in the Shrieking Shack.

You forgot one thing. When Chowder and DJ fight, Sally stopped them and tried to keep the peace, same thing happened when Ron accused Harry of putting his name in the goblet on purpose where Hermione tried to keep the piece. I also thought this movie was like Harry Potter and the characters were also like the three main ones.

Fun Fun Fun

They were obviously based on those three characters... alot of movies and tv-shows are based on Harry, Ron and Hermione... it's kinda fun actually... lol

Good Analysis, I didn't realize that!!!!

Harry/Ron/Hermione are walking cliches anyway, it's a common set of character types that many books and movies use.

You do realize that this stereotype isn't just found in Harry Potter, right? A ton of shows, movies, and books have the three characters like that. The hero, the sidekick, and the smart one, i.e. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Buffy, Xander, and Willow) and hundreds of others.

Yes, but it is obvious to the point of annoyance in Monster House, where they are all around the same age and appearance.

The tree attacking the cops and their car kinda had me thinking of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Did anybody else think that or am I the only one?

-This is madness!
