The uvula joke...

...was completely out of place in a kids movie, don't you think?

Yeah, I don't know what that one is either.

Naw. Any little kid who "shouldn't" hear that probably won't understand it anyway (my six-year-old loved the movie, but had no clue what we were giggling about in that scene).

Older kids who might have overheard or misheard the word, and/or the one related to female anatomy that the character is mistaking it for, could and would say something just like what Chowder says. Chowder knows "just enough" to try and show off, and hence make that sort of very funny mistake. He and his friends are on the edge of puberty, after all!

I thought the uvula joke was hilarious -- a hidden treat for the grownups, while harmless for the little ones. And this movie's one of those animated treasures that is not just for the kiddies, anyway.

The "It's a girl house" line was taken out on Cartoon Network's airing, but they kept "That must be the uvula!"

"This is good... Isn't it?"

What's wrong with the word uvula?

No

Kinda sorta. Depending on how young the child is, it might passover his head. Considering the puberty joke and the initial infatuation that DJ & Chowder have towards Jenny, it can be said the characters are at the stage where they're trying to understand the biological distinctions and differences of the opposite sex. It wasn't anything dirty given Chowders "Uh huh, so that's what it is ..." tone (and he was right).

Parents are OK with their kids playing games where they kill each other or movies where they kill everyone but oh god no someone showing boobs or talking about privates is a strict NO.

It wasn't out of place, it was actually really funny moment. Kids won't turn into rapists, even if they understood it..

That's not what I was implying. But if a joke goes over its core audience's heads, then I'd say it's out of place. Didn't really fit the tone and the humor of the rest of the film, either.
