sharewhat's wrong with México??? sun, beaches, tequila, etc
shareSorry, but france was no option because terrorists had their operative basis in both Spain and France so he was safer in Mexico. Hiding in Spain would have been like suggesting a mafia mole that he should hide away in Italy.
sharewas it possible to get plastic surgery in spain at that time?
any idea on what he actually looked like?
I don't sincerely know about plastic surgery. I guess if you had the money and the resources you could. The man is said to have gone under the knife, I don't know when. And about what he looked like, I think I saw a photo of him in a newspaper report once. He has appeared on tv since, but wearing a wig, shades, a beard and gloves and dim light and all the stuff so no clue about that either.
shareThe SECED, i.e. the intelligence unit that was overseeing his actions, paid for his plastic surgery in Clínica Angloamericana in Madrid.
That's how he'd looked like before: http://www.elpais.com/recorte/20041105elpepicin_2/SCO250/Ies/pasquines_distribuidos_ETA.jpg
According to Wikipedia Mikel 'El Lobo' Lejarza was a member of the Spanish intelligence service. In the movie he was a small time business man or farmer or something like that who just happend to became a mole for the Police.

anyone know how much of the movie is true ...That's always the big question asked of these sort of films. I got the impression that the general storyline was pretty accurate, but they'd fictionalized a lot of the characters/ dialogue etc. to facilitate a decent story. share
