Anyone notice 666 comments on IMDB - coincidence?

There is an obvious satanic theme in the books and the film. "His Dark Materials" is a quote from Paradise Lost in reference to Satan, who is the protagonist of the epic poem. This exploration and subversion of christian theology and organized religion was interesting and entertaining to me as a young adult, but since reaching adulthood I've realized how adolescent and disingenuous this is. You can criticize the catholic church all you want, but when you try to invert the biblical ideology and subscribe to any form of Satanism, you are putting yourself in the company of people like Aleister Crowley and some of the sickest human beings that have ever lived. And with influential figures in our pop media, like Jay Z, who likes to wear a shirt with a famous Crowley quote "Do what thou wilt", promoting this ideology out there, I can see the degrading effect it is having on society.

Seriously though, what is the likelihood of the 666 comments? That is just strange!

Well, there are 667 user-reviews now. Brace yourself, because I'll tell you the shocking truth: every movie that has more than 666 reviews at one point had... 666 reviews!

But subscribing to the pseudoscience of numerology is not "adolescent and disingenuous"? Really?

Numbers are anaphors. They don't mean specific things. Even if they did, the so-called mark of the beast appears in the oldest extant text (and elsewhere) as 616, both written out and in Greek numerals (chi-iota-stigma). Think of all those films with 616 comments you thought were safe, oh the humanity! You'll just have to post another 272 times until they all have 888 comments, the Revelations' author's pulled-out-of-the-@ss number for Christ, because reasons.

As long as you're paying attention to how these scribbles have changed over time, plow right on into ancient Hebrew. Elohim is a plural, you know. Why? Because the Jews originally had a pantheon of gods like everybody else.

Face it, there are no gods, only morons. It is your ideas that are dangerous to a functional society, and we will not weep at their passing.
