Denial

I went to high school in Wausaukee, WI (Marinette County) and have lived in this state most of my life, although I am not originally from WI. Anyone who says this movie is not an accurate portrayal of the people in WI is simply in denial.

I'm not originally from Wisconsin but I have lived in Green Bay and Appleton.
Parts of Wisconsin this movie probably is accurate but not Appleton or Green Bay.

reply

I'm from Wisconsin. The characters (with the exception of the main ones) are all characatures. It's sad that people from LA (or whoever wrote this) think that about us. I was disappointed, and insulted by this movie.

I want you all to clap, when you hear his neck snap.

Every state has hicks and the writer is some punk from chicago

reply

The writer (Pete Schwaba) is originally from Marinette, Wisconsin - where
the movie was filmed. True, he moved to Chicago in the 90s, but his portrayal of the people in that area was heartfelt and pretty accurate.

reply

No, he's NOT actually from Marinette.

He was born and raised in Chicago (Portage Park) and moved to Marinette in junior high. He went back to Chicago as soon as he could leave WI to go to college. Can you imagine coming from a huge city (in Illinois no less) and being dumped in small town northern Wisconsin? I guarantee he HATED being trapped in podunk Marinette and deliberately wanted to insult the people of Wisconsin. Don't make excuses for him and try to say he's from WI when he's not.

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.
