Good movie if just a story - Disappointing as a historical event

Since other colleges had black stars well before 1966 overhypes the concept of an all starting 5 winning a title. But with it being in the south which was / is a bit behind in race relations makes it a good story.

I am really disappointed in the total disregard for what really happened to make a glossy movie
#1 - Texas Western had multiple blacks on their team in the 50's before Haskins showed up

#2 - Texas Western was a really good teams during the mid-60's. Haskins said his 1964 team should have won the title (best player only played 8 minutes due to foul trouble in tourney game). They were expected to make noise in 1966 before the season started

#3 - Game Play - of the final 4 teams, Texas Western played the slowest pace of any of them. Kentucky was known as a run and gun team. Texas Western won by getting to the free throw line 34 times (Kentucky 13) & Kentucky was cold (27-70 from field)

#4 - Scores of games...The opening game was annoying. It was against a bad Eastern New Mexico team that they beat by 51 points in real life (they struggled in movie)

#5 - The final game in Seattle...They had a game 3/5 in Seattle. 1st round of tournament was 3/6 at Wichita. No wonder they were flat and didn't care (still only lost by 2 in real life)

Still good story that feels cheap when presented as fact - 6/10

All the alley oop slam dunks were ridiculous. The alley oop play was very rare and considered Globetrotter-style hotdogging until UCLA in 1973 and NC State in 1974 made it a major part of their offense.

Lattin dunked fairly often but his dunks were usually two-handers right under the hoop.
