green street is totally overrated. it's just ridiculous. the self-claimed best firm of england travels away with 15 people. their best lads are like 25 years old and the leader is a primary school teacher. it's absolutely unrealistic. there are so many reasons why this movie is a load of s h it.

1. 50 mancs vs 10 of gse. who wins? of course the hobbit firm
2. the scene where bovver stands in front of the birmingham firm in the stadium. they do nothing... stupid
3. elijah wood. couldn't they cast some believable actor? someone who's at least 5'9" or 5'10" tall and not a hobbit at 5'3" who probably weighs 130 pounds.
4. the whole "journalists are bad people" subplot...
5. a 14-year old boy (or who old was he?) gets his head kicked in.
6. the ending

if i was a hammers fan i would feel very embarrassed. this movie drags the real firm through the mire.

*beep* green street, i thought it was good until i saw football factory, it makes GS look like a gay soap opera.

too bad is of chelsea headhunters, i know is a good firm and all but man i hate Chelsea

Your mother's in here, Karras. Would you like to leave a message? I'll see that she gets it....

Just watched GSH yesterday. FF is way better, maybe because its humour and its better characters like billy bright. Also it doesen't have stupid hollywood cliches like GSH where in the end the main character changes his lifestyle back to normal. I loved the ending in FF "Was it worth it, of course it *beep* was." "Tommy Johnson now follows rugby....bollocks."

That's what makes S.F. so badass, we got the best flashlights.

reply

I.D. p!sses on both of them.

CORRECT!

I've yet to see Football Factory, but I have seen Green Street and thought it was super cheesy. I've heard great things about Football Factory, so I bought it and plan on watching it tonight. We shall see what the verdict is.

An american's perspective......

1)Green Street Hooligans is made for Hollywood, the dramatic ending, the death of the main character, unbelievable plot twists, your typical try to make you think about your life movie, was it worth it to be a hooligan?? That's what american movies live for and make there money off of

2)Football Factory is far better in my opinion it makes no apologies for what it is, a fun movie, better comedy, real viloence that's not over dubbed with some corny braveheart type theme at the end, drug use, typical hooligan behavior...in the states we have our version of hooligans, were just not tied up in football, were tied up in the never ending party, my point is football factory is straight head good fun begining to end, no trying to make you think about your life, hollywood ending *beep*

Btownsend - you must be one of very few Americans who understand!

FF is miles better, now don't get me wrong Green Street is watchable and a decent film but FF set the tone as a amazing film and despite green street trying to copy many of FF story's and characters, it just doesn't match up to FF.

A review on the Green Street cover says "This makes Football factory look like a children's playground scrap"

How exactly!?!

reply

I haven't watched too many films about football hooliganism. In fact the Green Street Hooligans is the only film I've seen dealing with this subject and I enjoyed it. Now I will definitely check out the Football Factory.

reply

green street had characters with personalities. with football factory you wouldnt blink if every single one of them died

football factory may be more realistic, but that doesnt make it more entertaining. we could have a video of grass growing and it would be the most realistic video ever made, wouldnt make people watch it

EVERYONE SEE RISE FOOTSOLDIER

All of these films pale into insignificance compared to THE FIRM. (No - not the Tom Cruise, one.)

You said it Green Street has that Hollywood ending, and that's what happens when Hollywood takes something English and thinks it can achieve the same, it's bollocks. Football Factory had better characters and a more believable story. Green Street is the watered down version of Football Factory for the younger American audience. I watched both and both are watchable, but when it comes to watching either again or suggesting one to mates, Football Factory is the winner.

Green Street is aload of WANK! How the hell can you have a Yank in a football firm especially a West Ham firm!**** me Football factory pisses on Green Street and *beep* on it and wipes it ass on the Yank FOR FUN!!!!'Cass' is the REAL football factory contender in my eyes

reply

Noway that Green Street is better. The Football factory is a hardcore hooligan film and 'blends' you with the life of the supporters. On contrast, Green Street was in a lame fashion from the start to the end. Although, it has some powerful dialogues but still it is almost covering the life of a soft yank learning to be a hooligan, which was lame.
I strongly recommend I.D. (1995) it is really amazing.

The Football Factory is by far the better film. The characters in Green Street are just not believeable. A school teacher would not be part of a hardcore hooligan firm, I don't care what anyone saids about them coming from all walks of life.
The fight scene on the tube train in Rise of the foot soldier is better then any of the fight scenes in Football Factory and Green Street.
