Guest room goof - why a goof?

This goof doesn't make sense:

When Annie and Taylor arrive on the farm, they stay in one of Mary's guest rooms. Later in the film, Annie and Taylor renovate an old tack room to live in and there is no mention of the guest room.

In the beginning they stay in the guest room, I believe for $10 a day, but that's only temporary. Later, they find an unused room and ask if they can clear it and stay there more permanently ($200 a month? can't remember exactly). Why would it be a goof if they didn't mention the guest room at this point? Is the goof suggesting that they could have stayed in the guest room indefinitely? They can't stay in the guest room forever, since the owner wants it available for guests. Since the other room wasn't being used, it would work more permanently. What am I missing and why is the above a goof?
