The dog?!?!

Why does every horror movie with animals end up killing them??

Not every haunted place eats dogs!!

My thoughts exactly!!!
...I told my husband..."well cr@p, it has a dog, the dog is gonna get eaten..."he laughed and said..."You don't know that..."

I am getting ready to see Boo tomarrow. Does this movie also have a dog get eaten in it? LOL. I love animals, but still can't help but laugh at dogs getting eaten in every single horror film. Why can't these directors put a little creativity in there movies?!

Let's be fair here..

One of their two dogs not only survives, but kills at least two people!

So many people hate my guts for always asking why an animal ( usually a dog ) has to be put in jeopardy or harmed in every gdamned movie that features an animal. It is always explained away by apologists as a major plot point and is a brilliant, amazingly creative effect by the writer or director, blah blah blah, and it is always just a stupid ploy that brings attention to what would usually be an otherwise forgettable movie.
I did have to amend my reply here as to the Hills Have Eyes, both original and remake - that was one of a very few examples where the animal getting hurt not only added to the story but its death was also avenged. In that case, it wasn't just some stupid shock tactic or a needless attempt to explain a character's motivation.

haha, whenever i see an animal in a horror movie im like "its dead" lol.

As soon as me && my two friends that I watched this with saw the dog we all said it was going to die. && we were like what the hell when it started basically bubbling and coming alive...

They're making up for the evil killer dogs in Cujo, Wilderness, The Breed and other horror films. It's only fair.

reply

Appeal to emotion, by killing something people have a soft spot for things seem more evil. Like if you see a random murder on tv its like "well, thats a shame" but if its someone poisoning pets its a sick sob.

I said the same thing: "If this dog bites it, I'm not watching this trash."

Suffice to say, by 25 minutes or so into the Sci-Fi channel airing, I'm watching "The Andy Griffith Show".

I think it's not only awful, but also a cheap tactic to get us, the viewer, to care about whatever situation these lame characters find themselves in.

I couldn't care less if the "college kids" survived, but the dog died, so the hell with the whole thing.

Signature? Huh? Oh damn...

I am a thread-killing machine, kids.

reply

just so people know. if you watch the credits it says "in memory of dutchess" the dog....

reply

Yes, I noticed that, too...

Personally, I think horror movies should kill cats. Lots of cats. Thousands of cats. And not just horror movies, also action, drama, adventure, romance, comedy, thrillers and documentaries. And the next Godzilla movie should pit ol' tall, green and scaly against a giant bio-mechanical Hello Kitty so that we can watch Big G systematically shred HK and the Hello Kitty factory, and then void himself on the remains.

Sorry, got to go, the doctor says it's time for my medication.

Won't happen my cats are trained killers and can defend themselves.

I avoid any movie where an animal is armed or die either be it cats , dogs or anything else.

Animal cruelty in horror movie is stupid leave em out of that.

my cats are trained killers and can defend themselves.
I wouldn't be inclined to put my faith in trained killers whose defenses can be rendered powerless by a feather tied to a string.
