I saw a bit of the first episode and I have to admit, I laughed at things that weren't intentionally funny! The part where one of the characters say " The _________ drift?! " made me laugh because it's just a drift, lol! But my friend is a huge fan of the show so I gotta ask, is it a good show with good human drama or is it just fantasy for boys without any real substance? And I am sorry if I offended any hardcore fans of the show.

Maybe you picked up a bad translation

I would not say it is a boy's fantasy without substance, unlike Need for a Speed (the film) and Redline as there is good storyline to keep you engaged and plenty of character development, such as much of the character's motivation for racing

Also bear in mind, Asian approach to racing films is unlike that of western films which usually have a pointlessly corny boy gets girl subplot which rarely exists in much of the Eastern car films I've seen
