Did 'Heroes' steal this one?

This could possible ruin something for people who haven't seen both "De drabbade" and "Heroes".
Things that are almost the same in the series "Heroes": One sign that is similar, The abilites normal people suddenly achieve and don't really no how to handle. And the abilities are almost exactly the same. One person how tries to destroy them all. The ancient connection. A predestined goal that the person with foresight tries to avoid. The Invisible guy is a bum. Some use it in the way of Evil and some in the way of Good. Well some is more and some is less and some is forgotten by me.

I've been thinking about the same thing all along while watching Heroes. It's just too uncanny with the similarities. Smells like a ripoff to me.

De Drabbade is by far better than Heroes. Both mythology and the characters story arcs are created with much more care, also De Drabbade doesn't underestimate the viewers like Heroes sometimes does.

I agree, De Drabbade owns Heroes.

It takes everything to a deeper level that Heroes, and explores everything in a more realistic way.

Heroes seems so shallow to me.

Indeed, I first saw "Heroes" when Swedish televesion showed a marathon with the 13 first episodes due to bad planning when showing them the first time.
And it struck me how similar it was.
For those who haven't seen "De drabbade" it's about a group of people who's had a hard life tgat gets their weakness turned into a (super)power.
For example: One of the characters in "De drabbade" has to make a living selling erotic videos over the internet (sound familiar? Exactly like Niki Sanders) and gets bossed around and always get told what to do. She gets the power to make anyone do her bidding (except the other people with powers).
There's also the woman with split personalities. Sometimes she goes into a trance and can't remember what she did afterwards.
She's called "the hunter" or something like that in the Swedish series and doesn't have any real super powers, she just kills the ones that has. (Again like Niki Sanders, "Heroes" just smashed these two characters into one) There are also alot of other similarites between the series, some unavoidable... there's ALWAYS an invisible person!

I thought about this before watching, and also halfway through... but somehow... the darkness, the gritty-ness and something about it started smelling more like the japanese manga/anime "X".

The homeless invisible has some similarities to heroes, but also to the guy in the subway in Ghost... And the mutants of dark and light has some similarities to X-men. So I'm starting to think that it's more like a kind of weird coincidence. Maybe they where both using X-men as a start... and trying to avoid to many similarities, they both end up with their own version that happens to be really similar in their attempts to not be similar to the original

just some thoughts about it...

I watched the episodes with audio commentaries by the ones who made this show.

They actually mentions X-men, they said that X-men is cool but it's not for real. They wanted to get away from the superhero thing and make a story that seems real and realistic. (Unlike X-men and Heroes).

There are a lot of similarities.
Some people have already listed some of them, but in De Drabbade a lunar eclipse is significant to the story. In Heroes there is a solar eclipse.

In both De Drabbade and Heroes there are two brothers, where the first brother has a family and stuff whilst the other one is on his own.

In both De Drabbade and Heroes, there are a guy who can read peoples minds.
The first scenes in which you see these guys the first time is the same in both shows. (It outplays in a pub)

In both shows, a special sign is really important, and you can see it everywhere during the shows.

Just some examples.

I would probably guess both Heroes and De Drabbade has been inspired from some other older show/book/movie. It seems like a theme that would have been used before.

There is no such thing as too much time

It's more than just a theme. Even with the baby at the end all of that. It can't be a coincidence

reply

Ok I've never seen heroes so I can't say. But it could still be that both are based on something older.
