there are some good actors in the movie, I really can't wait to see but does anyone know what it's about?
shareI'm almost 100% sure that this movie is based on the Arthur Hailey novel of the same name.
Berenger plays a detective who listens to a confession from a serial killer he helped get convicted and this confession implements some high society individuals doing some dirty deeds.

If you consider a mistype then you get Arthur Hailey's Defective. The film certainly was. And surely Doil would have been found insane. Rubbish all the way through.

it's about three hours long - not counting commercials. Pretty much says it all.
shareJust saw this dreadful dreadful thing. We are too sophisticated about police procedure and forensics to believe half of this movie and the plot...the councilman who immediately slams the police after the first kill...the chief who cares more about politics than solving the crimes...the press allowed a few feet outside of a crime scene...the detective with no time for his family, torn between his job and his shrill wife...crazy homeless people. So many cliches. The actors seemed inappropriately cast. Cybill Shepherd and Tom Berenger seemed old, too old for the kid and lived in a fabulous house for the salary of a priest turned cop. Berenger seemed uncomfortable moving around- either he was wearing a corset (a topic of much debate during the slow parts) or he is unable to move well from some injury. There was no intensity or chemistry between any of the actors. And the Annabeth Gish character was inane and ridiculous. From a homicide detective to a sex crimes lt running her own squad to a councilperson (with no qualifications for either job) who turns on the cops she worked with, all in one movie! Dreck!!!
I was disappointed and I'm sure Hailey fans were as well. He writes detailed gritty stories and this was like a sheet of candy dots. Nice to look at briefly but terrible to try.
