Why didn't Benjamin Bratt and Michael Caine return?

I know that Eric Matthews broke up with Gracie over the phone and later McDonald told Gracie that he moved to Florida which explained his absence in the film. I think Benjamin Bratt turned down the chance to return. I wonder why is that Michael Caine didn't reprise his role of Victor Melling? I guess it probably had to due with him filming Batman Begins which conflicted.
