Anita Mui in House of Flying Daggers

I just found out recently, that she is casting and filming for the movie. Unfortunately, she died due to Cancer.
In the end, nobody replaced her character. And her character was never shown in the movie either. Imagine how different the movie would be with her. Hopefully we'll have a director cut edition sometime in the future?

*SPOILER* (of sorts)

You're actually wrong about some of that, I think. Anita's character still remains a part of HOFD, played by another actress. Out of respect and as a sort of recognition to the fact the role was already reserved for Anita, the actress playing the role has much of her face obscured by a drooping hat. Look for the scene where Leo tries to force himself on Mei in the forest.

House of the Flying Daggers is dedicated to Anita Mui, as indicated at the start of the closing credits.

Of course her passing was a major tragedy and it's very nice that the producers of HOFD did their part to pay their respects to a legend of the Hong Kong entertainment industry.
