Thomas Jay Ryan

T. J. Ryan is continually touted as being in this film, but I can tell you he doesn't appear in one frame of the movie.

Is this an oversight? Was he originally cast in 'Dying Gaul' but wound up on cutting room floor?

Sounds like another example of Hollywood's not knowing what to do with this brilliant actor, who played the title role in the great "Henry Fool".

i.e. Robert Redford cast him in "Legend of Baggar Vance", and only had him utter one line.
Michele Gondry cast him in the Jim Carrey film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", in which he was onscreen for about 20 seconds total!

When will someone write a great starring role for this superb thespian?

He's in a deleted scene on the dvd as Campbell Scott's therapist. From the scene you could imagine at one point there might have been a running thread of scenes with the therapist, but for whatever reason they decided to cut that scene (and any others that might have been just written or thought about). It's a very good scene.
