Death was revenge of Jeffreys family

I feel The film maker Killed the wife because she deserved to die the way she put Robert through a living hell with toying with him on his dead lover. It in my opinion had nothing to do with the husband Jeffrey as some have said but simply Robert's character getting even with the wife character, no more no less and when you think about it she was as mean as they came, because she should have ended it but kept it up for amusement and pettiness. She was also made to be the women taking the kids and getting all she could when she was as bad as the husband making her death much more poignant as Robert getting the best of all in the end.
