I usually like b-horror creature features. A great example of that would be the absolutely excellent Dog Soldiers (2002) or, by the same director, The Descent (2005). Another good example would be Tremors (1989).
This one is probably best described as Tremors in a river. The pitch is very similar as is the build-up (a small gathering of people of various walks of life in a remote location). However, it's quite inferior to Tremors when it comes to the dialogue and direction. The f/x is sometimes kinda cool, but other times you ask yourself why they bothered at all.
To me, it's worth a rental. The thing is, you start seeing it with low expectations and then, when you feel that this might actually get pretty good, it doesn't deliver. Could've been better.
The title should win some kind of award in itself though. The clerk at Blockbuster looked at me strangely when I put it on the counter..
"...and here's the kicker; grandma's dead."
