Great film, bad title
This film was BRILLIANT! The only thing is it has a really bad title that will put people off! SEE THIS MOVIE because it's great!

I agree! My girlfriend gave me this film for x-mas as we have a tradition of giving each other gag gifts (i.e., let's find the crappiest gift we can find and give that) but shockingly, i enjoyed this film. while another poster noted the acting as "nothing special", there as some very talented (and recognizable) character actors in this film, the script is funny and intelligent and it is well shot. as an imdb regular, my first thought was "i bet the working title was something else" (it was, "bayou", which while generic, is still better than what they decided on) this isn't the first time i've thought "would these people have even signed on to do this film if they had known what it would end up being called?"
it's unfortunate that even the most hardcore horror fan would pass this up when it is a creepy, well written and directed "killer fish" movie (and i hated jaws, which i found boring, though that arm floating in jaws 3D was pretty cool...)
i'm not sure if they were making an enept attempt to latch on to the frankenstein legacy, or a political statement, as this film deals with genetic manipulation and genetically altered food is sometimes referred to as "frankenfood" but either way, they missed the boat (pun intended) and probably could have had more commercial success with just about any other title. i would have called it "killer fish"
This movie is so bad its good. Actually, its not really that bad. Movies like Boa vs. Python among others are far far far far worse. I agree that the title of the movie gives it the traditional "cheesy monster movie" feel. In comparison to others, its not bad at all.
shareOh my......
sorry, but this was a load of trash.
Just my thoughts :)
I'm sorry, but I completely agree with ieatchalk. This was premiering on the cable television movie channel here in Australia, and I decided to give it ago because of its odd title.
I found it to be one of the most badly outlined horror/thriller movies. It made almost no sense... the director must have wanted to give it a "twist" by killing off 98% of the main characters. The film had no sense of direction, it wasnt even that scary.
The acting wasn't bad though, the characters were portrayed quite well. However, the movie just was... trash. No offense. The plot didn't seem to be going anywhere and the ending was absolutely bizarre.
Absolutely!
I watched it on australian cable too - i think it might have been Movie One?
Anyway - dreadful stuff
I didn't think it was compleate crap, but I was kinda disappionted.
I am EL Bounco
Poon you I shall.
The title was awesome!
That's the only reason I rented the film.
...and hey! Someone said that Boa vs Python was bad. Well it was, but it was funny too (not as funny as this one thought!)
Boubou!
I liked the title too
shareIf you like B horror movies you will like it. Good to see shlock monster horror movies still been made !!! I liked the title as well but it did hurt the films box office. Saw it on Aussie cable TV Foxtel last night. Check it out Horror Fans I think you will like it.

I watched this movie tonight with my parents. Dad was asleep throughout most of the film, and only woke up every now & again when something loud in it happened, like a big crash or something. It certainatly wasn't a scary sorta movie, and I agree with most people here the title SUCKS. But this film was better than I expected. And China Chow, SWEET!! Too bad what happened to her character... :(
sharethe title was the best part of the movie.
shareI honestly would have preferred it to be cheesier and less serious.
