was extra for Around the Bend

I got to be a extra for this movie. I spent two days in a Kentucky Fried Chicken with Chris Walken, Josh Lucas, and Jonah Bobo. It was quite a experience, first time I ever did this. Can't wait for the movie to come out to see if I make it in. I didn't get to meet Michael Caine, he wasn't there for this scene. If their still filming its fairly easy to get a glimpse of the actors ,they just don't like for you to take pictures.

Did josh lucas have his head shaved off? Did he see Salma hayek on the set? Did you get to talk to them?

reply

Josh did not have his head shaved off, It appeared to be short perhaps growing back in from a shave.I did not see Salma Hayek the two days I was on the set.

Hello,
ANY info about Josh would be great-did he have hair, did he seem like a nice guy, relaxed etc.....

JLFAN

reply

Yes, Josh had hair. He also had very bright blue eyes. He was wearing a suit in the scene, it was suppose to be a funeral at the KFC. He was very professional, kinda acted serious. He didn't smile a whole bunch although he smiled back at me once to be polite because we passed each other and had to say excuse me. I was really nervous. He wasn't real playful except with the little boy who played his son. He seemed very comfortable with the kid. Between scenes the kid, Jonah was very "active" and Josh seemed to be his anchor keeping him in line. It was kinda cute. The scene was not a happy one so I couldn't tell if he was trying to focus or if he was normally kinda quiet and kept to himself. I did get to have a short conversation with Christopher Walken in between action and he was extremely easy to talk to in spite of the tense feeling on the set. Lisa

Thanks for the info...I'd love to see this guy in person just to look at those eyes and to see if he is as hot as everyone says!! How did he look otherwise, look good in a suit?? So was he stand-offish or just quiet and serious?? Did he interact with anyone but the child. Did you get to eat lunch with the crew, and what did they feed you?? Silly questions..just curious. A funeral AT the KFC??? Weird............

Speaking of his eyes, I must tell you that they are the most brightest and electrifying in the world, they're beautiful. The crew went to the tent to eat first and we the extras were let in while they were still eating. My twelve year old daughter came also and at one point there were a ton of people in the lunch tent and the second she walked in there she told me her eyes went straight to him because she saw "his eyes". They had a little of everything to eat. Nothing out of the ordinary just alot of variety. He wasn't exactly
stand-offish, but it seemed a very stressful two days and he was in a hurry. He tried to stay business like. My daughter observed that with two of his friends he was joking and laughing in the tent. I don't know who the two guys were, they didn't appear to be actors or camera crew, but I noticed he stuck with them during the times they weren't rolling the camera. During the scenes in KFC there was some "disagreements" between Mr. Walken and the producer.I did notice that Josh stayed totally out of those heated discussions and kept a very straight face. He was very hard to read in a sense which is why he's such a good actor. Oh and he definitely was handsome in a suit.

reply

i no the little boys nearly 7 but does he look it

reply

Thanks for up-dating us on the movie. Please up-date on us on the filming if you know any more new things . Can't wait till it comes out.

reply

He looked like he could of passed for between 5-8 years. He was a thin, petite built kid, he also had a little suit on. His mom was there on the set and she was very friendly. The little boy was definitely a handful, like I said Josh seemed like he could of been his real dad the way he interacted with him. And I mean in between shooting, during the filming the boy was a fantastic little actor, he sure knew his lines.

reply

Did the boy mom talk to Josh? Did josh talk about his own son? Did Josh say anything about getting married and having more kids? Did josh talk about having a GirlFriend? I bet the boy reminded josh of his own son.

reply

I never saw Josh talk to the mom during the two days I was there. He didn't talk about anything personal at all. Frankly he didn't talk period on the set except to Jonah and to say his lines. I didn't know he had a son. To be honest, there was no glamour going on there, He had a job to do and he was there to do it, it seemed. Then again I was only there two days.

reply

Thanks lisa. Please keep us up to date on whats going on with the filming. Any small things is good news.

reply

I'm happy to share anything I can with all of you Josh fans. It was such a awesome experience and its neat to be able to talk about it. I think my families sick of hearing about it.

Thanks for all the info, at least we get a little glimpse of Josh that no one ever gets to see... Talk away, esp. about Josh!!!! Okay start from the moment you came on the set..teehee. I'd like to see him in person just to see those eyes, I wouldn't talk to him as I wouldn't want to bother him, and unlike you, I have no reason to be on a movie set!!! However, maybe tell a joke to see the smile that matches those eyes. LUCKY SALMA!! if they are still together, lucky someone lese if they aren't. Did one of the guys he was hanging with look anything like him?? Supposedly he has a brother that resembles him. So what did Josh do to calm the kid down?? Oh by the way are you a Josh fan, if not before you saw him, maybe now?? Thanks again....

Okay, another lady and myself were put behind some cameras in the KFC while they were figuring out what to do with us. There was a few other extras seated in the restaurant, others were outside, their job being to walk in order food and walk out. I think I got kinda lucky that they were going to use me as a customer sitting right next to them in the booth then I had to get up walk right by them and throw my trash away and leave. They repeated this scene about 30 times or so so all that time I was either seated next to them, standing by them, or walking past them. There was times I was inches away from Josh. I kept a straight face and tried to be professional, they were having a hard enough time getting the scene right. To be honest I was scared to death I'd screw up by being too loud while passing them, during their very intense conversation. My job was to wait for Josh to say a particular line to Chris W. and then get up and pass right by them and throw my trash away right next to them. Then I had to hide behing a screen until they did it again from a different angle. This went on for hours. During the second day I got up my nerve to talk to Chris W. when he came and stood next to me during the break. He was very easy and normal to talk to. During that conversation Josh did come over and stand with us. By that time they called us back and he did smile briefly when I had to squeeze through the equipment to get back to my place. That was the extent of it really. Although I was close enough to touch him my job was to be background and background doesn't disturb the actors. It wasn't quite what I expected but the intense atmosphere on the set makes everyone a little uptight. I can't say if all filming is like that but it is their work and they seem to take their jobs very seriously. I saw him in the movie " sweet home alabama" and thought he was cute but that was the extent of it. Now I have a lot of respect for him as a hardworking man whose job is real and sometimes difficult like most other jobs. Its hard sometimes to see these guys as human but they are. I also have alot of respect for Chris W. Hes been around a long time. As for Josh, he played around with the little boy, joked with him hugged, him but acted very firm when he got to loud and hyper. I hope I answered some of your questions. Also anyone can be a extra in a movie you just have to find out where their going to shoot them and go to the casting call or mail them a picture and some info about yourself. The most important thing is to be able to show up when they need you and stay a very long day.

reply

Hey thanks for the info-you have been a real sport with sharing the info. You probably didn't know you would get so many questions. I'm glad he seems like a nice guy, already know he is good looking with eyes to die for!! I would sure be interested in knowing how making a scene really goes. So why so many takes on the same scene? thanks again!!!

JLFAN

reply

I beleive they retake the scenes to get them from different angles with different lighting and occasionally they didn't like the way their lines went I guess. Afterwards the editors and whoever else get together and watch everything and decide what looks good, what stays in and what goes out. I had no idea they redid scenes so many times and how close the cameras are. There are camera, lighting, and sound people everywheres. No I didn't know I'd get so many questions but I can definitely relate. I've been totally crazy about many actors and musicians many times and loved finding out whatever I could.

reply

So what was all the stress about while shooting this particular scene?? I guess if they reshot it 30 times people would feel a little pissed off!! Was this an intracate scence?? Still trying to figure out why they would have a funeral at KFC!!!

JLFAN

reply

Well the stress came from things interrupting the actors the first day. A few of those interruptions were a cell phone ringing, and someone took a (unauthorized)picture when the guys were sitting in the booth ready to act. There were a few other things I didn't know what had happened. Walken did not appreciate these things at all and he made it very known. Josh said nothing just kept a poker face. I call it a funeral cause that was what Walken called it when he was talking to Josh. They had the ashes of Joshs granddad in a urn and Walken was reading the will to Josh. Walken said to Josh "Tell him your a g*dd**m funeral when Josh's characters boss called him while the will was being read".

reply

Thank you..I like hearing about him as he is my favorite actor!! As you describe his eyes, guess the pictures of him in magazines and in films are accurate. Sometimes they "add" a little color, but glad his seem natural. Is he a very large man, tall, thin?? I get the idea he is of medium height with a medium to a somewhat slim build. Is this right?? I will be looking for you in the movie!! Thanks for keeping in touch..

Movie sounds like it will be a good one. JLFAN, that's cool you're a Josh Lucas fan, but you are too into it. Maybe you should relax or something because it almost makes me want to throw up reading your messages. All you care about is what's going on with J.L. in the movie. The poor girl is only a background actor, not like she's going to run up to him and ask him all of these questions. Like she said, he has a job to do and from what I understand, they do not like to be bothered "while working." With all do respect, mam, Get a hold of yourself.

reply

Nice input, however I do think you have me mistaken with Linda7497. Sure I want to know about him but I didn't ask about his phone calls, friends, dating, children, love life, etc. I am interested in how the scences were shot, you know the making of a movie. I'd love to be an extra in any movie AND I would certainly behave the way this poster did even if Josh Lucas was in it. Hope you like the movie when it comes out.

reply

Yes mam, I do owe an apology. You're right about that Linda lady. She is a 'lil obsessed.

Simple question. Anyone know for sure if actors and directors read these silly little comments of ours? Probably not, they're way too busy, right?

He didn't say anything to my daughter but he knew she was there. These guys seem to notice everyone whos around and theres alot of people around.
