Too many songs in this movie

Didn't it seem like a different song would play every two minutes in this movie? It's as if the screenwriters ran out of things to write and decided to fill the screen time with music.

I think it works, if only for the fact that the Walken character was a musician

And also because it is pretty clear that most of the time when you hear a song in the film, the characters are actually listening to it. Since it is in large part a road movie, this makes sense, because listening to music and being on the road often go hand in hand.

I loved the songs in this movie. I want to watch the whole movie again just for the music. I would really like to have a CD of them. I tried to catch all the titles at the end but couldn't quite do it.

The soundtrack is for sale. I have it and it's badass; they have some of the original compositions in it too, which I was very grateful for. And if you want a movie that REALLY has too man songs, watch The Big Chill with Kevin Kline.

The music in this movie is great and it perfectly fitts the scenes and the atmosphere.

Michael Caine provided the music for the funeral ritual, including the song that was played at his late wife's grave. I'm surprised no one here picked up on that.
