How did Henry die?

The scene in which Henry died really surprised me. When he was with Zach at KFC, it seems he was still fine. Did he commit suicide?

The impression I got was that Henry's health was very poor and had been for a while (hence the live-in nurse and the grandson Jason writing his father 4 years prior to please come see his father before he died) but Henry was hanging on by sheer force of will because he wanted to live long enough to see his family reunited. So, when Turner shows up, now Henry can let go, and when he finishes writing out all the instructions for his family at the KFC, he dies. I found it a bit harder to believe that the dog just dies of natural causes only a few hours after Henry does. And Henry's death might have seemed a little more believable if Michael Caine hadn't played him to be as spunky as he did, but I loved the movie anyway, despite a few implausibilities.

I think he poisoned himself and the dog lol. The timing was too perfect, plus all his plans and the writing in his will etc.

Thanks a lot for putting a spoiler in your subject. Very thoughtful.

It happens in, like, the first 15 minutes of the movie. Hardly a spoiler, in fact it's pretty much the catalyst for the entire plot.

I'm thinking that must have been it. He probably took a bunch of pills and then gave them to the dog as well. Which... bothered me. It's an unexpectedly dark and uncomfortable aspect of an otherwise nice movie. I kept thinking about the poor dog.
