Love the Ending

I just loved the realness of the ending of this movie. (well, the parade scene... not the whole bow and arrow thing at the VERY end)

Very underrated movie in my opinion.

this is one of those strange kind of movies, that you just have to love, i loved the ending too,, great movie,, Hollywood needs to make more of these kind of movies.

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

Yes, the realism is another thing that makes this film great. In real life Cage' character wouldn't have his family all move with him to New York and live happily ever after.

I beg to disagree, I was rating this movie a 9/10 but the ending sank it to a 6/10. The movie is full of thoughtful and real emotions, realisations about the meaning and value of life.

The end just plain validated his whole stupid life. His father gave good advice in the car just before his death. "sometimes you just got to through some things away, you're still young"

He should have quit his job with a splash, in killed the ridiculous spritz he'd become.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

I think what his father meant by that was not that he should literally get rid of something from his life - such as quitting his job - but to throw away the obsession he has with his failures. Cage's character was hung up on the fact that he had failures in his life, and it was holding him back from moving on and finding happiness. He needed to "chuck" this obsession and accept who he turned out to be.
