I'm probably in the tiniest minority here when I say this...
But this is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it for the first time on HBO, then I bought the DVD, and I've watched it at least 15 times since.
I honestly think it gets funnier every time I watch it. I've played club sports for years and this movie throws me back to those good times every watch. From the parents who're willing to tear off limbs to get their kids playing time, to the various "personalities," to the "star players" that everyone is focused on passing to, to the strange fact that the assistant coach is always tougher than the head coach. I just think it's ingeniously how meticulously the screenplay was crafted.
I know it's predictable, but it has to be. It's a kid's movie. Will Ferrell is great, but the real stars are the kids. They're all hilarious in their own way. The focus on Mike Ditka could've backfired horribly, but instead he just made the movie so much better with his presence.
So yeah. I'm in love with this movie. Sue me.
