I just don't understand the ending (spoilers)

Sorry I must be dense or maybe I'm just tired.
(I may have even fallen asleep at some point) lol

So she gets her daughter and brings her home.
But there's something weird about the daughter right? I guess we're supposed to believe that it isn't really the daughter it's actually the evil girl?

So she leaves a message for the husband but he can't hear her and it's all static.
Then they arrive home. They come through the door and approach the husband who is sleeping on the couch. But then he's not there? But then he is and they aren't there?
Ok what does this mean?

I'm about to fall asleep listening to baseball announcers talk about sleep.

Her daughter is now the person of Dark Alessa. I call it a possession, some say they "merged" off camera. But it's obviously not the same person at the beginning of the story.

The twist nm, it's 10 years old is that Silent Hill isn't just the town, it's the grey universe, and Alessa will never let Rose out. If you were awake during the school scene you can see that Chris and Rose are in the same place, can sense the other, but not see them.

The idea is that there are three different versions of Alessa (the little girl who was burned alive by the religious fanatics). Adult Alessa (the woman in the hospital bed, who controls almost everything that happens in the movie), Dark Alessa (the evil little girl, the physical manifestation of the dark side of Alessa's psyche), and Sharon (the good side of Alessa's psyche). Once Alessa completes her revenge, she, Dark Alessa, and Sharon combine to become one person again, living in Sharon's body. Rose takes Sharon home, but they are still trapped in the alternate reality because that is Alessa's world, and she has no interest in returning to the real world.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.

The way their home is so dark and drab, there's that fog etc makes me thing they're dead. The Dad is alive in the same house all vibrant and full of color. But, I didn't play the game and don't know if the movie follows that script or what the game end was like.

reply

They're not dead, no. They're just trapped in Alessa's world.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.

In the final Church scene what people on this board call "Dark Alyssa" (in reality she is just what she say she is, the devil) merged into Sharon, so they both are trapped inside the demoniac reality, just this time is more "benign" as Sharon isn't full of hate.

Dark Alessa is not the devil.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.

Why?

Juliet Parrish: You can't win a war if you're extinct!

She's the manifestation of the dark side of Alessa's psyche. Alessa herself isn't a demon or devil, thus neither is her dark side.

It is the way of men to make monsters; and it is the nature of monsters to destroy their makers.

I view it as Dark Alessa having finished with Alwessa, now possesses Sharon.

reply

1) Rose actually died when she got stabbed.

2) Alessa wanted to get out of town using Sharon's body. So Sharon is still stuck in the dark world too when they get out at the end.

3) I'm also guessing Alessa has the power to do whatever she wants so she got out to the real world eventually using Sharon's/Heather's body in Silent Hill: Revelation. That's why we see her still alive in the real world in that movie but not Rose.

Simple explanation: They're in purgatory.

The husband is in the real world. Radha Mitchell and her daughter are in the Silent Hill dimension. The little girl has a piece of the evil spirit / demon inside her (probably cause she opened her eyes after her mother said to close them)
